it seems people like putting their $250 piece of equipment on the line by modding it with stuff they have no idea the purpose of. good grief.

In the main screen of the Wii system menu, press EJECT three times quickly after eachother, and the disc channel image should change to a gamecube logo.
I think it only works when you don't have a game inserted in the Wii disc drive.
i installed my drivekey no problems atall, and my backup games and originals all play, happy days, the one thing i am having trouble with however is loading up the drivekey config menu, i have tried several times, firstly pressing eject 3tims slowly, or quickly in the main menu, and also the same, slowly, or quickly in the disc channel, but even after waiting more than 10 sometimes 20seconds, the drivekey config menu is still not loading, i am assuming its working as i can play my backups, and also the discs are being read. I thought that if there was a problem with the drivekey this would prevent anything being read by the processor seeing as the drivekey sits on the bus between it?
The GameCube logo comes up after just a few seconds.
Hmmm, perhaps you have one of the first DriveKeys from the very first batch, which were called back by the DriveKey team and then sold under a different brand ("Xenowii" IIRC). They don't have the built in config menu and they don't have the update blocker feature, either (very dangerous - you risk blocking your Wii when playing out of region games). They also lack the JTAG update feature, so you should be able to recognize this version of the chip by looking at the chip itself.
i thought that after reading some of the previous posts, but my chip came in the sealed bag, with the sticker and also the JTAG cable to attach, seems to be the newer version of the chip as they mine looks the same as the ones on all website sdvertising the drivekey, well there is no noticable cosmetic difference to it, ill email the website just to check

I have the same problem as Shaker had where the wii remote just locks up once the drivekey config screen loads. The remote just flashes all 4 blue lights at the bottom. I updated my wii to v4.1 and no luck. I just bought the DriveKey so it should be the latest version.
Also, original games play fine, but none of my backup games will play. Just get a black screen with some error message telling me to turn the wii off and on.
The Wii remote does not work in the config menu! You navigate in the menu by using the reset button on the Wii console itself.
Wrt your backups not playing, it can be anything. Try this with a few games to test: Get a backup .iso with a game of the same region as your Wii (e.g. an NTSC-USA game if you have an NTSC-USA Wii). Make sure it's a full, unscrubbed version of the game. Burn on DVD-R media (use Verbatim if you have any) using IMGBurn at 4x burn speed.
Since you have updated your Wii to the latest firmware, and assuming that you don't have any softmods installed AND that you have installed the DriveKey chip correctly, all games should work for you now. If not, contact your dealer and ask for an RMA.
In reference to the config menu once I have installed my drive key do I need to change some settings in this menu inorder to get the drive key to work. I have tried 5 backups with a error coming up each time. This is my first time modding something and am interesting in learning how to do this properly.
Thanks in advance
