    Burning problem

Recently installed the drivekey and the very first game that I burned was the price is right using my last disk from my old stash.... it was a sony dvd+r. it worked perfectly. since then I have made 4 coasters with my verbatim dvd+r. I used imgburn and the iso's were torrents. They all were the same in size. I put the brickblocker patch on them before burning.
My question is this : Do you think my problem is a media issue? Should I go purchase a small amount of different types and try the same game over and over? This last purchase was a spool of 100 so I hope this isn't the problem...lol.

I haven't had any luck with +r's and my Drivekey. I'm unsure why you're brickblocking them though? Some games require a update to work, some don't. Like Madworld and Ready 2 Rumble Revolution are 2 I've come across wanted to update the wii in order to run. I've been burning -r sonys in Blindwrite without issue.

+R do work but only if they are bitset which LG, LiteOn etc drives can do other wise only -R will work with drivekey.

That is what i find strange , the very first one that i ever burned worked fine and it was a +r. The reason I patch brickblocker is to ensure they are ntsc. Does that not matter? I am very new to this. One week in. I have no idea what bitset is. My cpu only does +r discs. I can't change that can I?

Thanks for your help and patience.

please describe your problem...if you're on 3.3 or above you wont be able to run brickblocked games. that might be the reason. and -r is highly recommended over +r

brickblocking is unnecesary if you use drivekey's feature to block import updates. I'd give it a go without brickblocking them.
If your firmware is 3.4 check if the file sizes are correct, 4.699.979.776 bytes
my verbatim+r don't give me any problems, but on the drivekey homepage there is a guide on how to change the book type here. My drive doesn't support that so I did it w/o and they still work.

Crazysheep , I just checked and am at version 3.4 - Thanks for that information. My problem is that the games would load in the small window and go to the big screen but when start was selected I got an error message about unreadable disc.

siriusbs , I will stop using the brickblocker. Are there any games in which I need to be cautious or just not use a copy on?
Your comment -If your firmware is 3.4 check if the file sizes are correct, 4.699.979.776 bytes------ If you are talking about the iso files they are all the same....4,589,824 kb.
Thanks for the info on booktype. If I am understanding correctly this makes the wii think the disc is a dvd-r instead of a +r?
Just checked - my desktop is HP : not supported for booktype and my laptop is ?Matshita? : not supported.

UPDATE: I just burned manhunt 2 on my laptop and it worked with no problems. I will update as I continue. Thanks again.

jay-sun: yes I was talking about the .iso files, on windows right click check properties for the exact byte size. kb size seems right though.
on booktype, yeah it's pretty much for what you said, not sure why but it seems some/most drives prefer dvd-r and DK homepage suggest to change the booktype.
you mentioned the first game you burned worked, you could try and burn that game on a verbatim+r just to check if it's media, but since 1 game worked it should be issues with the .iso
edit: no there are no games you have to worry about, if the game is in your region it will update, if not it won't, so no chance of bricking your wii, as long as you have your drivekey set to blocking import updates. if you're using any homebrew (which by your post I doubt) you should set it to all and manually update your ios.
    hope this helped

I am using DK with 4.3u and I run everything through brickblocker first (for safety precautions?) and then burn to HP DVD-R every game works great!

I changed my update blocker from default setting of import block to block all in hopes that it would keep nintendo from automatically updating me to 3.5. Hope this is a proper measure? Maybe I should just disconnect from the internet?

Sounds like lots of people with different results...
