You guys can check on the official drivekey website, they update it and there is new picture of the chip. So on the website, which oscillator is it ?

    Latest update...

Its related to the Wii ribbon cable.
If its silver then it will probably not read original discs.

Replacing the silver cable with an non-silver one makes the drivekey also read originals.

I got my drivekey today and it doesn't resemble either of the ones you've posted. Perhaps a 3rd version? Mine has the clips like the one on the right but the unit resembles the one on the left. My wii has the silver ribbon cable and originals are booting fine my backups aren't working at all but I've burned them on dvd+r's so I'm doing a -r now and will post the updated results and pictures of the drivekey so you can see the difference.

Hate to rain on your advertising parade but my Drivekey works perfect. It's playing retail and backup fulls and scrubbeds perfectly. Here's the picture of my drivekey it's not like the others pictured also note my wii has the silver cable. Oh also my original issue was as I suspected it wouldn't read backups burned on +r's I switched to -r's and burned all 43 games without 1 issue, burned using blindwrite at 18x speed also.

Anyhow seems there are now 3 versions, either way i'm much more happier with it than a wiikey solution that to me was total trash

I just did it at the home screen, press it 3 times then wait a little bit, it takes a few seconds and you'll see a gamecube icon load at the disc icon spot, click that and you'll be into the drivekey menu and you move around that using reset and select options by holding down on reset
