In my opinion, DriveKey is a good modchip for the DIY type of guys but want the install to be real easy and who just want a modchip that works.

Modchips like d2pro and D2Sun are for those who also are DIY type of guys aswell and have the time to properly install the chip and do whatever is needed to ensure the functionality of the chip.

In the end, most people choose DriveKey, but not many have heard of it anyways so I'd give it a few weeks or so till everyone starts getting at it.

it loads slower though, and it makes it closer to the ISO loader, which is a huge turn off

Any advantage in going with the drive key besides not needing to solder?
If you have a d2c2 go with a regular modchip over the drivekey, 1) save money 2) better load times 3) the config disc for d2pro wiikey2 and wasabi zero kick ass

    2. I'm hoping it won't have the eject issues like alot of other chips I read about.
Featurewise I don't see really anything new just the installation. The 3x drive speed limit doesn't really bother me it's still 3.96meg a second. Who knows maybe a new firmware will help with that.
Those are great reasons indeed, though a clip solution if done proper will work very nice as well.

If you're not confident in removing it or would rather not risk ruining the drive then go with the drivekey. I don't want to recommend something that has the potential to ruin the drive.

if u are looking something cheap, dremel away the epoxy and solder the bitch in
Its not a huge issue for a lot of people, everyone will have their own take on it though.

    agreed.

the way it works. the wii will make anything other than retail which runs at 6x, run at 3x. Modchips like D2PRO make the drives think they are retail discs, where modchips like drivekey seem to be converting video data to game data.

Just a quick question for you Spyman or anyone who does several mod chip installs.

How many D2Nothing drives have you came across in Canada so far? obviously the Drivekey is a solution for those drives until D2pro releases their new version that claims to boot back ups on the D2 Nothing.

I guess you could probably replace the PCB and then install a wiikey 2 or something and it would probably be comparable to paying for the drivekey (which is quite a bit more expensive). What do you guys think?

so far no d2nothing drives here, and yes its better to replace it like that but not many want to bother with that, the drivekey is simple and easy to use.

Also comparing 3x to 6x side by side there are differences depending on the game itself, but not a huge deal, but if you had the choice 6x is a better way to go.

but it is updateble so in the future do you think the will put the 6x on the fw or is that hardware related!!

Edit: I look at the thread with the drive speed test, so it doesn't mather if it is 3x or 6x the result is basically the same.
