1.31, 1.5 or 3.0, I understand the advantage of 3.0 is it can be upgraded but I need to purchase the extra programmer. While both 1.31 and 1.5 is non upgradable but works rigiht now.

What is the difference between 1.31 and 1.5?

I beleive 1.31 does not have the external on/off switch and the 1.5 does. I think thats the only difference.

the diference between 3.0 and 1.5 is the ability to upgrade the chip. 1.5 isn't upgradable and 3.0 is.

v1.5 uses the same firmware as the v3.0 also.

From the looks of it 1.5 and lower are not upgradable, but 1.31 has more SPI flash memory out of the two, while 1.5 comes with a switch. In any case they don't really need to be updated at this time.

If you are going with a 1.31 we got them pretty cheap on sale right now, $29.99 with free shipping or $44.95 presoldered with a clip I believe also with free shipping. considering most places charge $8-$12 for shipping as well.
not sure how long the sale will last.

all of d2sun....the only difference between the v1.3 and v1.5 is that v1.5 comes with an external on/off switch...how useful this is no1 knows but if you dont want to spend the extra on the 1.5 then go with the 1.3..they are both solid

what is your opinion between the D2pro V3 and the Dsun 1.31? tia

D2PRO9 V3 with 2.3/1.6 (at least from us) works flawless.
Advantages:
Well known team, creators of WiiKey. SPI is dvd updatable, chip is completely reprogrammable via D2PROG Programmer. (separate purchase, not needed at this time).
Better quality build, and we know the team will be around for a long time.
Cons: additional d2prog purchase in future may be necessary

D2SUN 1.31 works flawless as well (but we sell very few d2sun comparatively)
Advantages:
8Mbit spi flash
Cons: currenty no way to update, but also does not need to be updated.

In terms of playing backups they will both play everything right now.
