I have been reading and see no know issues with this chip. I thought I would get some opinions before placing an order because If there is not any difference between this and the d2pro with clip then I am leaning torward the sun. I seen issues with an earlier version I believe but not the newest?

the main difference is the team support. D2PRO9 is made by the same team as wiikey/d2ckey/d2pro and a famous GC chip. Theyve been around a long time and show great support to get major problems fixed as promptly as possible should any be there.
D2Sun is what we consider a budget chip. The team is very new, so we dont know how support will be in future yet. Depending on the type of d2sun you get it may not be updatable,though it does have spi flash so technically they could create dvd updates to do minor fixes, but its not announced as a feature, so its unclear if they will support the old ones.
My recommendation is a solderless wasabi2 still at the very current moment. In 1-2 weeks time there is a new firmware the d2pro9 v3 will have.
ok, but my problem is that I here all this support for the d2pro but it seems that it is the only one that has the issues which need the support. not trying to sound rude. wassabi and the cheaper d2sun seem to not have any issues that I can find.
if a d2pro9 is advertised with 2.3 h/w firmware and 1.6 s/w firmware then all the "inching" and "eject" issues you read about become redundant. its interesting to see how this clearly major problem (of the past by now, depending on the supplier) has dented the credability of the product.
it was a minor thing that happened with the d2e support version, the previous version was working nicely. With the d2e version I am guessing something with the timing changed, but the team itself addressed it quickly and got a solution out.Quote:

The point is that the team is actively working on solutions and improvements all the time, thus shows their support. Wasabi2 has shown their support with adding d2e support to older d2c/d2c2 compliant wasabi2. d2pro started with 1.0 firmware and now is at 2.3...yes they have a lot of support but i like to have a chip that just works and i dont have to worry about it at all....d2pro team had the d2ckey which in my opinion was thier best product as it still works today and hasnt needed a single update....and as far as support goes from thier team they release new versions of thier chip and dont provide the Jtag update to fix the current problems...is this fair support?
wasabi 1 was really bad as it had the red light problem on d2cs...thier wasabi 2 has been excellent and has not needed an update yet...does this mean thier support sucks? i dont think soo.
I've seen you refer to the d2sun in a number of posts as a "budget" chip, with a connotation that you pay less and therefore you get less. But from reading the descriptions I can't quite tell what it's missing compared to the other two (the v2 and v3 d2sun are both upgradeable via jtag). Can you help explain?Quote:
