D2pro Solid red light, dead drive! help:(
I purchased a D2pro + wiiclip from Gmodz today (Sept 02/ 08)
I followed the installation guide exactly.
Now when I go to turn on my wii the light on the chip turns red and stays red, the blue light does not come on at all.
If i try putting a disk into the drive it does not go in, and if there is 1 in, it will not come out.
I'm having the hardest time, and its very frustrating because I drove to get this chip (45 mins)
My Wii serial Number is Lu33027526[0]. I got a brand new D2Pro9 rev 3 + WiiClip V4C-3 presoldered. It has a D2E and a checkmark on a sticker on it (Not sure what any of this meens)
If i remove the D2pro chip and boot the Wii, the drive runs fine, and disks go in and out without a problem.
SO basically all in all, When I install the D2pro9 I get a RED LIGHT (no blue) and my dvddrive goes dead.
Can I get some solutions, or even an explaination of the problem.
Thanks everyone

sent you an email with follow up....the checkmark on the sticker means its flashed to 2.3 firmware and tested...take the clip off and look underneath to make sure you havent bent any of the pins when trying to install the clip. this is usually the problem. the clip is not aligned properly and when you push down on it the small pins that attached to the chipset get bent

The problem is you don't have the clip on properly thus it doesn't make the contact with the chip beneath so you are getting the red light. For d2c2 wiis, we reflash all the d2pro9s with the 2.3 firmware so according to the d2pro team, there are no inching or eject issues. Please check the clip to see if the teeth on the clip are not mangled from repeated attempts. If you can't get it going, bring it by and we will show you it works and only charge you the difference between the chip/clip cost and the installed price. Thanks.

I have the same problem, installed D2pro9 V3 on WiiClip V4C-3 presoldered on a D2E chip. Im getting red light with eject problems and inching when inserting a dics. When the D2pro is removed everything drive works fine. I removed the D2pro chip and insalled on a D2C wii and everything works. Not sure what the problem could be. Please help

It seems hawkeye that the new V3 D2pro still have problems with the D2E drives, so my advice, get yourself a 1.5 or a v3 D2sun chip for your D2E wii, it have no issues with the D2C drives and all the other drives that are curently available. Give it a try and you won't regret it.
EDIT:I really fail to see how what you said....helps him to solve his problem using his d2pro9...
you assumed it was the newest v3 not the earlier v3....
you are just bashing whenever you can regardless and spamming another
I have had no problems with the latest D2pro9v3(2.3/1.6 with d2e support)
or on he earlier v3 after downgrading the fw for the d2c2/d2c wii drives.

Hi.. 1st of all.. sorry you are having thet problem.
I just recenlty installed a D2Pro9wire V3 for my D2E chipet. Just pluged and worked perfectly!!
Now I think the problems is if the CLK joint are soldered then you have to de-solder the CLK joint and try again, if not then try connecting the J wire, see the pic..
hope that helps!
NOTE!!
IF YOU ARE ON A DMS, D2A or D2B CHIPSET THEN DO NOT SOLDER POINTS C,D,E,F - EITHER REMOVE THE SOLDER PADS OR COVER THESE CHIP POINTS WITH INSULATION TAPE BEFORE SOLDERING

Hi, all.
I am having a problem with D2C and the D2Pro chip + wii-clip, but is really making me nuts..
First it didn't work just by positioning the Wii-lip, everythign looked perfect but the driver got inching ( is that the word? like DVD entering in "slow motion?", stucking..) , and no spinning Blue light at once etc.
I tried the Jx2 connection, at first worked like a charm! insert/eject/ loading, etc everything perfect, but after a couple of hours the drive started slowly inching again, longer loading disc time when inserted , until slowly lost its function, and stopped working. Dead.
I tried shorten the lengh of "J" cable, it didn't make so much of a difference, same behavoour. Couple of hours working on excellent condition, and then slowly failing.
The pins of Wii-clip ( original ) are fine, connections are fine, chip is working at least it shows normal behaviour for a time, but then slowly , gets akward.. Anyone got a similar behaviour ?
Again, this is a GC2-D2C NTSC US Wii. I am really thinking on giving up the Wii-clip and go for the 9 wires. Maybe I shoudl try re-routing the C cable over the Osc. I am a bit lost on this .

if you're able to ditch the clip and solder it in then it would likely work fine. The clips if not installed right the first time just get worse when you retry. First inspect the clip, then straigthen out the inside with a stanley knife. It should work for you after that. If not then you can try running the wire over the osc, but not sure how it would work out.

I already checked everytime I took out , I tried an hybrid with Little johnny' s setup...running the 1.5 v cable, and groudning the OSC.. I think after so many tries, the chip can be damaged too :-(.
Is there another "good" solution for a D2C chipset that is "D2C fault poof?" I can see my Drive is nto working properly wth the D9prov3 ( I couldn't open my Wii so i got D9pro to be able to pass anything ) , and I saw people with similar problems, and they are modders... What a simple mortal like could do against it? :-)
