d2pro9 v2.1 firmware update
I agree, I wouldn't update either. Look at d2pro website in the news section they tell you not to update if you have d2c or d2c2. Here is the link

I updated my d2c2 to v1.5 using DVD. Everything is working fine. I have not done the 2.1 firmware update as I don't have the prog and it sounds like it's not recommended.
The v1.5 SPI update seems to be fine.

I don't understand. I thought if you use util disc 1.5 to upgrade the d2pro9 chip, it automatically upgrade the firmware to 2.1.

From what I understand 2.1 is the firmware and requires a special programmer to load. 1.5 is the SPI and that is upgradeable via DVD.
Maybe some experts can explain what the feature difference of the firmware and SPI are.

Jayman007, is your modchip a d2pro9 rev2 chip? after upgrading to v1.5, notice anything different from v1.4 or older versions? i'm trying to figure out what the benefits of updating to v1.5 ( without also updating the Actel chip itself using d2prog and firmware v2.1). thanks.

Hi, just 2 quick questions on the firmware upgrade:
1) I have downloaded the 2.1 upgrade, and run it using the d2prog programmer, and a windows XP machine. It runs ok, the red LED blinks away, but at the end it gives me a "verify error" and the red LED gets stuck on red. If I restart it, it seems to have loaded the firmware though. Same with the 2.1 alternative version. Is this normal?
2) is this upgrade supposed to upgrade the SPI to 1.5 as well? because that does not seem to happen. If I restart the upgrade.exe it still detects 1.4 version of SPI.
Thanks in advance for your help
Mauri

I don't know about 1) but regarding 2) you need to download the 1.5 utility disc from the D2Pro site and burn it to DVD then use that to update the Wii.
