Hi, I'm new to the whole Wii modchip scene and I would like to know a bit more about your experience with your buy, ajayuk.
I went to the D2Pro manufacturer's website (d2pro : Home) and they didn't mention anything about a WiiClip, so is this even endorsed by the D2Pro makers? I need a modchip but I'm afraid I have no soldering experience whatsoever, so this Wiiclip combo sounds interesting. I looked it up and apparently it is not only the easiest Wii modchip to install to date but also the most efficient in terms of compatibility with the Wii's motherboard chipset.

I bought a Wii in NYC April 20th of this year and have no idea which chipset my Wii has, and I'm afraid of opening it up and losing warranty to find out I know that installing the modchip will automatically void warranty but at least by then I will have been well informed.
Do you suggest this chip for me and if so where would I buy the D2Pro + Wiiclip combo? Also, how's soldering, do you think anyone can do it or you have to be an engineer?

Hi illWill.. great name by the way...lol
I bought my Chip from Germany and my Clip from Canada..what can I say, I like to spread the money about...lol
If you dont know how to solder at all, then the clip is bang on right for you, it does mean you wont have the region free capacity unless you or someone else can solder 4 small wires in place.
As for buying them, you could try Mod Central Ltd...do a google for them. Good luck..

I say you should use D2CKey instead of the D2Pro right now. It has been reported with a lot of problem til now. The wii clip for the D2Pro isn't working right yet for some reason and you need to solder 4 wires to get it region free. D2CKey just simple plug and play. I love my D2CKey with the wii clip. You can buy a presolderd D2Ckey wiiclip at mod-chip.bz for only 64$ + shipping. They have great customer support. That where I got mine. And to know which version your wii is there is a topic in wii modchips section.

Hey, sorry for the late “Thank You” but I didn't get any e-mail notification of a response in this topic
Anyway thanks for the information Luan and Ajayuk. I ordered a Tri-Wing screwdriver from Kaidomain for a TOTAL OF $0.97 USD. Yes, 97 cents! But I’m worried because they haven't contacted me in any form other than giving a PayPal receipt. On the Kaidomain website it said shipping usually takes from 7-10 days, so hopefully it will arrive Monday or Tuesday the latest.
Anyway, once I open my Wii up and it happens to have the D2C motherboard then I will buy the D2CKey solderless pack. Though I still don't know what the best sites to do so are...
Anyway, thanks for the info guys!

illwill you can check what your wii version is by entering th serial number on a website it will tell you which chip you have o.o. And dame you get that screw driver really cheap i paid 7$ for it >.> from mod-chip.biz that the only thing that has the highest price there iono why lol. But it is a very nice screw driver once of those fancy one with the rubber grip. W/e i can use it to do my own Wii modding service i guesse. And i bought my d2ckey solderless from thre too and they have the BEST price 64$ cheaper then all other site i've been to but the only problem is they're locate in Thai land so if you do standard air mail it will take awhile around 10-13days to get to you if you live in us. But they do have fedex express 3day shipping for some extra cost. And my d2ckey is working flawlessly since the day i installed it. Read every games i burnt on Magnavox DVD+R at 6x and 8x without any problem, normal loading time no lags, no DRE error yet. If anyone in Utah/Saltlake city region and want to mod your wii. I'll do it for you for a small fee + parts if you don't have the chips ordered.

I'll check for my chipset using that site when I get home. If I have the D2C chipset, I should be settling between D2Pro or D2CKey, both with WiiClips as I have never even held a soldering iron in my hands
If it's not the D2C chipset, then I guess I'm gonna have to research to see which modchip is the best for my Wii. I heard that Wasabi & WiiKey are uber so I'll consider those.
As for the Triwing screwdriver, it got good reviews with the only complaints being that the handle was small and that it felt cheaply made (metal stuck to plastic). I have yet to receive it but once I install the chip, which I have yet to order, I'll post to let y'all know what's up
