    Utility Disk Question

I bought a D2Pro9 with the quick-clip, set the area code on the dips and got it working. I also downloaded and burned the latest utility disk off of d2pro's website. It says there is no chip present.
I can play many many backed up games... but anything newer than 2-6 months, most will show they will play, but when I try to start the game from the Wii menu go to a black screen.
When I opened the Wii I expected a D2C2, but the chip is in fact a D1.

Does someone have a utility disk I can use to update the firmware on the main Wii so I can play newer backed up games, as this one does not recognize any?

newer games require IOS's over chip firmware, most chip firmwares, just add new features, and fix errors

So my solution to this is?
I was hoping for an in-depth response, rather than search to understand the answer you gave since I have not made modding my Wii a hobby, and rather a hopeful minimal time spent attaining and using.

im sorry that my anwser wasnt long enough, ill Fix this since this problem DESERVES walls of text, and i opted to just tell you what was needed to know

every game has a update, incase people whom dont have internet, or hack, can update their firmware, because of this, every game since the first firmware, requires this update to play since why would u care, unless you were hacking, so thats what that is, since each of the 3 regions get a special firmware, language, features, etc, using anything out of your region, will semi brick your wii, meaning you can no longer use your settings, and a simple update, channel remover, or downgrade will fix it

since you can block updates, since not every game requires the updated firmware to play, some games contain a update, mostly newer games, like wiiware cant be used lower than 3.2, and most require stuff from 3.3 so they made Cios 37, which installs all the needed files from 3.3 so you can play those wii ware titles without a problem, the same is for games, every game that adds something, almost unique to the game alone, has a IOS update, animal crossing Needs IOS 38, which is required to play, and adds in game support for Wii speak, need for speed, has IOS 53, and 55, which one adds support for usb, wheels or something like that, some more games are, super mario galaxy, mario kart wii, and brawl, which add dual layer support, and there are other games, that have those updates, like hitman reborn, had one of them that was required to play, i dont know what, but i think it was IOS 53, if a game doesnt find the needed IOS, it wont work, period, other things use IOS's too, like shop channel added IOS 51

the only game support added, to modchips, was about 6 months ago, for Galaxy, Kart, and brawl, to fix the error 001, problem, other than this, most updates, are for useless things like, fix's, support for newer drives, block firmwares, lower disc read speed, region free, GC audio fix, iching problem, etc etc etc etc

since you got a error, like that, are you 100% sure its even a D2pro, maybe they miss sent you it, maybe it is a Old 15 wire one, which doesnt support Disc updates, only Jtag, maybe they made a look alike, maybe its a fake, idk, im not so amazing, i cant figure out everything from nothing, but thats what i thought

since Homebrew channel is a program, that freely allows you to, boot programs from the SD card, if it is placed correctly, since homebrew channel, can only be installed on pre tucha patched firmwares, IE 3.2 or lower, you must use twilight princess game save exploit, once you do this, you can simply boot a program, like Gecko OS, which is a program that allows you to cheat, and force boot games, in or out of region, which will normally tell if it works or not, and why, over a black screen, if its 002 then its a lack of a IOS, since the work arounds, are only supported for Wad manager, you have to have homebrew channel, or you can freely update your firmware, and deal with those problems later, since odds are you dont want nintendo freely updating your firmware, you should block updates, since 3.4 requires a new TOS, which gives them the right, so i would block, since you cant with your chip, since you need that disc, use starfall, which will patch the system menu, and skips the update, which means u dont have to update ever again

Wow, because you deserve this so much for your lazy ways, since i maped it out, i hope youre thankful, and if you dont get it, thats not my problem, its all up there in plain english

And this is much appreciated, because I was not aware of many things you have pointed out, that were common knowledge to you, but unknown to someone of my history with the Wii.

I will now endeavor to determine (by opening the Wii once again and taking a picture of the mod-chip) what mod chip I have, and then researching the things you have mentioned to determine the correct course of action to allow some of the more recent games to be played as backups.
