Just got my D2PRO9 V3 from Canadamods

I watched the videos and I'm pretty sure I have it installed correctly, everything boots up fine and plays my original fine. My Wii is a NTSC, I tried a backup that was a PAL and it asked me to update my system, I stopped there.

My Wii is new and has the latest firmware, but will it play a PAL backup? I am in the process of getting a NTSC backup so I'll try that later.

    Thanks for any help.

Yeah as long as you don't run cross updates, you can play a PAL iso no problem.

....what's a cross update? Should I let the game update the firmware? Again my Wii is NTSC and the game is PAL, when I put it in my system it says I need to update, should I let it?

    Thanks again for any help.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, that is what a cross update is. You never update from a different region.

Thanks, didn't think I should update. Any idea why it's asking me to update? It won't play the backup at all, it keeps asking to update.

I have my Wii open, when I put in an original the D2PRO9 V3 will blink red then blue quickly, when I put in a backup that is a PAL it blinks just blue and again won't boot, it asks to update my system.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

One thing I was wondering is if I need to bridge any wires or solder in anything? I have the D2PRO V3 with the clip from Canadamods and my Wii is one of the newest (bought last week from big retailer) and it has the latest firmware.

All I have done is open my Wii and clipped on the chip.

Thanks for any help and advice.

You need to remove the update, or use another program.

Sorry for the questions, but what update? I didn't update via the PAL backup I had in the system, I updated my Wii through the internet connection on the Wii from Nintendo.

Even then it was a small update for the Wii shop channel.

All I have done is installed the D2PRO9 V3 with the clip into my system.

Do I need to downgrade my firmware on my Wii or update the firmware on the D2PRO9 V3?

Ah ha! Seems I needed to update the firmware on my D2PRO9 V3 to get it working. I would have done that already but that utility disc was in a weird format and WinRAR doesn't give you a progress bar when it is opening it, so I tried before then closed it before it was done, after running out of options I decided to figure out how to make the utility disc. This time I sucessfully burned the utility disc and flashed the firmware on my D2PRO9 V3 and after that it all started working.

Thanks again for the help, I hope to help someone else pulling out their hair like me some day as well.

And just to be safe, before burning a game use Wiu to patch updates on ISOs not from NTSC-U region. So like your PAL disc has an update that keeps nagging at you, use Wiu to patch it. Heres the link:
