Epoxy removal tips and alternate points?

So the day has come i have an Epoxy cover wii drive here.

So what do you guys use to remove the epoxy?
Or do you just use alternate points?

IMO the only problem points on the D2pro are the C,G,H points these seem to be covered with epoxy.

Currently i can't find any alternate points for those 3 points.

So how to go at it?

Any tips ( chemicals , dremel ) are very much appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, was this wii bought brand new with the Epoxy or was it sent into Nintendo for any warranty repair?

where are you located ? We have done a couple now. Best method is heatgun + file for us. There are alt points on the bottom of the board though you can use, or you can get the new wiikey2 6 wire version.

    I'm located in the netherlands.

This Wii was bought new from a shop.

I can take my time with it so i'm just figuring out the best way to go at it.

Spyman are there also alternative points for G,H and C? as in the D2pro layout? i know the ones for EFD.

there is an alt point for C, for G & H though I don't think there is.

You might want to consider the wiikey2 6 wire if you dont want to solder the alt points on the back or ic.

On an entirely different note, where did you buy your Wii?
I'm thinking of buying a second one, but if I can't chip it...
Let's hope the epoxy hasn't spread that far.

Soldering the alternate points is not the problem.

I think i can clean point G and H too with the dremel.

I'm quite interested about the alternate point for C.
Could you point this point our for me spyman?

    Thanks in advance

    its all luck really

some stores have older, or uints that havent sold

all new ones SHOULD, but because you buy new doesnt mean its not 1 - 3 months old xD

worst comes to worst, you CAN buy/replace the drive, if its so bad for you
