Really Need Help

I have been looking through the threads and i am too scared to do anything without someone just to confirm things to me as the wii is my girlfriends and i cant be doing with the hassle of getting this wrong.

The wii is a couple of years old and is running 3.3E firmware with a d2pro chipwhich was fitted by someone at a computer fair and i dont know what firmware that is or wires i think its 9.

The last games played where mario cart and olympics which are fine and she has wii fit but now wants super mario brothers and wii fit plus but neither of them will work.

What are my options ?

Softmod it or do a update to 4.2. If you do update it will kill region free unless you follow the guide to downgrade to 4.1 to restore region free.

Thanks for the fast reply, region free isnt a problem im in uk and all games are pal.

What would u advise me to do as i know absolutley nothing about the wii.

Go into the wii settings and enable internet if not already. You will be prompted to do an update. If internet is already enabled then flip through the settings until you see an option to update. If you don't have internet you will have to find a game disk that contains an update. I would suggest New Supper Mario Bros Wii (original disk) to update to 4.1.

Yes i have the internet but never been online because it is chipped.

Does the chip need to be updated at all because it is at least 2 years old ?

Would you say softmod is the way forward ?

Look in the sticky section of this forum for info about firmware updates for your chip.

Look online to see if there is an update available of your mod chip. If there is then install it. You also don't need to update your system menu all that you need to do is install the required IOS files. You can install them with dop-mii even if you don't have the homebrew channel. For more info see the Super Mario Galaxy 2 thread. If you really just want to update then you can but make sure if you accept a disk update it is from your region.

Couldn't hurt. Just make sure that you follow the directions step, by step, by step and don't stray. Install bootmii as boot2 if you can and backup your nand. At the end of the guide do as suggested and install priiloader. A lot of people look at these as an option only and don't do it and regret it later when they brick.
