    Some problems

Hey guys. I just got a d2pro9 installed with a wii clip from a guy locally. He showed me it playing a back up and it worked fine, etc.

I backed up about 4-5 games. I got the new Star Wars game to work. The newer Dragon Ball Z game loads the startup screen in the wii menu but then just freezes to a black screen after that. The other ones just simply don't do anything. If I have them inside the drive it's like my wii is semi-bricked and I can't open the wii settings or homebrew channel. So I redid one of the copies by using WIU to patch the region to NTSC and burning at 4x instead of auto. It still didn't work. I got the files from a legit source and I'm using good dvd+rs (Taiyo Yuden). Should I be using dvd-rs? I have a new LG burner I got 2 weeks ago. Some games are .pal but most are ntsc. Any ideas? Let me know!

Could be the media (unlikely), or the burner (I always suggest Pioneer). Also note that not all games from other regions will work, so that could easily be the problem if you have a NTSC/USA console and are trying to play PAL games. The games that do work - do they work consistently? If they do you at least know the chip is installed okay. If they do not, there is a connection problem. With no discs in the drive, does the Mii Channel and other features work fine? A telltale sign of a loose connection is crashing when entering other applications on the Wii.

I suppose it could be a region problem. But even if I patched them? I only briefly played the 1 game that works, star wars, and it ran fine for the short while I played it. If there is no disc in the drive then everything loads fine. But if there is a "bad" disc then it freezes up when going to settings and or the homebrew channel, etc.

I think I may pick up some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim dvd-rs. Thanks for the response.

Or it can be the wii clip is slipping out of the drive's chipset
But LG burners work perfect with me same for pioneer.
It can either be the image not good at all, try downloading it over or use the TY DVD-R (Taiyo Yuden) from verbatim.
Thanks everyone for the great support.

I actually found out that the back up of Mario Kart works as wel. So 2 work and about 4 don't.

I just got a 100 pack of dvd-r verbatim. ($20 at office max) The only I could find was made in Taiwan though

We'll see if this doesn't help. Will report back!

Well, the DBZ game does the same thing. Loads start up screen in wii menu but won't play. I burned it at 4x with verbatim dvd-r. Should I have changed anything? Like the incremental setting in imgburn?

hmmmmmm......go into the setting of imgburn and change the burn settings to DAO only. If it still have the problem.....it is definitely the wiiclip slipping out of the chipset.

For the last one it I put it on incremental. Other than that I never touched any settings. Is the DAO only the DAO/SAO setting under write type?

I just backed up another one with incremental setting and 4x with no luck. Disc just keeps spinning in the disc channel. I just don't understand why 2 of the 8 or so work. Must be bad files, I guess? If just those 2 are working can it still be my wiiclip slipping out?

These bad disc/burns always cause my wii to lock up at a black screen and such until I manually hold down the power button and restart it. If I put one of the bad ones in, try to use it, then manage to take it out without locking. I'll lock up if I go to the wii settings and such. But when I turn it off then on it's fine.

yes the DAO is under the DAO/SAO setting.

Try it burned at 2x. if it don't work download alcohol 120% using btjunkie. That is the best burning software for all gaming systems.

Or definitely the clip is slipping out of the drive.
