    I have either a D2C2 or D2E

    serial number is LU58475xxxx

D2C2 and D2E represent a transition point for D2pro9 from V2 to V3. Apparently there are some issues with using V3 on a D2C2.

Gmods states they update the firmware in their V3s to fix eject issues and inching issues with D2C2s. Do these happen to be the issues which I was being warned of when I was told to use a V2 with D2C2 instead of V3?

Given my two possible chips, (and my current lack of a tri-wing) I would like a mod chip that will work equally well for both. Is the updated D2pro-V3 my best bet? Or am I better off with a Wasabi chip or something?

u have a d2e...these chips with the solderless clip sometimes require the J wire to be soldered...if you go with wasabi you will have to solder the J wire so its up to u....we will also carry d2suns which require no soldering but they are not upgradeable via dvd..they are like the d2ckeys for new wiis....they just work and dont need updates

Thanks for the info. Soldering does not worry me, as I often etch my own PCBs for projects. I will look into the D2sun though, as "no need to update" is a plus in my mind. It will probably all boil down to price.

Just out of curiosity, are any of these chips more likely than the others to support "problem titles" like SSBB, mario kart, mario galaxy, etc.?

all those chips support those titles..if price is a factor than the d2sun will be the cheapest....we will have them for $60 soldered onto a clip ready to go sep 10th

Sweet. I think I can wait a few days. You've sold me on the d2sun. If it's $15 bucks cheaper, and I wont need to buy a programmer and constantly need to flash it, it sounds like the chip for me.

if you can solder the wasabi2 would be a great pic, even the wiizard is an excellent choice. D2PRO/wasabi/wiizard have been around awhile and their support has a history. D2PRO guys support is obvious and the most active. If you wait a week or so we will have the v3 without any issues on a d2c2. We have a few right now but not able to release to public. The wiizard team is Wiinja and theyve also shown excellent support. If you want a d2pro9 check what chipset you have and then order the appropriate chip accordingly. If youre ordering from our site it will cost the same in the end.

We also get our d2sun shortly but only recommend it if you're on a budget, the other options for a bit more are still a better choice and if you can solder then youre already saving more.
