    D2Prog Help needed!

    Hi all
I am having trouble with the D2Prog.

I have Windows XP Media Edition SP2,
    D2pro 9w and D2Prog.

I have installed the third party driver onto my WinXP PC, just as described on the D2Pro website.
When I run the updater it just hangs and all thats on screen is this
    _______________________________________
    D2Pro Updater v1.6

    Programmer Firmware _
    _______________________________________

To get out of that I have to shut the updater program down.
I've tried everything I can think of. I've uninstalled and re-installed the D2Prog driver a hundred times, Re-installed the USB drivers etc.

The curious thing is that it worked fine on my PC at work, first time!
My work PC is just a mid-range DELL with Windows XP SP2

If anyone has any ideas, please share them!

    Thanks

Try sticking it in another usb port and reboot the computer and try it again.

see if you can temporarily downgrade the USB mode in the BIOS before booting

I looked at the options in my BIOS, however, the only USB option was 'Legacy' On, Off or Auto. tryed all three, but made no difference.

I'm thinkung of installing a PCI USB1.1 card. hopefully that will work, and not use the USB2 drivers.

this is how i got it to work on a system that never used to do it.

right click install the inf file.
place the sys file under windows/system32/drivers

plug the cable in usb port, let it auto whatever. select find in specfic location. locate the folder usb driver. let it install from there.

then hook up the chip and run the d2prog.exe

hopefully it will work for you, if not you may need to try on another pc.
The problem is because of the usb drivers windows uses, so perhaps if you have a linux or mac computer it will work better for you.

Hi I tried your earlier method, however still same results.

Thanks for all your help, very much appreciated.

I did try a work-around, I booted to a stand-alone version of Linux running from a USB drive (Slax Live CD-- Brilliant!)
I did get a little further, the 'D2Prog' updater now returns the firmware of the programmer as v284.2 (I think it was that, can't remember exactly!)
    It then says...

Searching for chip: non found (IDCode 1)

    then ends there.

The flat ribbon cable is installed correctly, the D2Pro 9 is installed in my Wii, and I have removed the power cable as instructed.

This is progress, but still not the desirable results. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
