I updated and so far, so good... I have other issues though... sometimes in the middle of the a game, it will say the disc can not be read... then I eject and put it back in and it's good... (clean disc) ... anyway, should be ok unless you hear otherwise.

I too am interested in this. I am completely new to Wis and bought one with the D2Pro9 V2 off a friend of mine. He never went online with it at all and decided to buy a sandwich toaster instead (PS3)

Anyway I decided to try and go online with it but being a noob thought I had best check a couple of things first.

The Wii currently works perfectly with all games (including Super Smash Bros) so don't want to bugger it up.

    1) How do wiiconnect24 and Internet differ?

    2) It currently says Version 3.1E at the top of my system settings - I think 3.3 is the latest - will connecting to the internet make this update automatically and prevent super smash bros working?

    3) Are there any other things I should know before connecting to the web on the wii.

Thanks awfully for your time answering these question - I did a qucik search first but with so many different chipsets for the wii it makes it tricky to see which answers are chip specific or not.

    Hi Welcome the WiiHacks community.

    1) I believe WiiConnect24 connects to the Nintendo servers, you can get the Opera Internet browser if you wish to browse the internet from your Wii.

    2) It is not automice, you have to go to Wii System settings to update, unless there is a Automic update setting set in the Wii Settings. Updating to 3.3 will not prevent SSBB from working. Although I would suggest that you install the Homebrew channel (if you are interested in the Homebrew offerings) using the DVD iso method, before updating to 3.3 as then you will need to use the special TP hack procedure.

    3) Read the forums as much as possible as most all questions have been answered, numerous time.

Having the mod chip doesnt change a thing..
Just the fact you are able to play backups..
even go online and play it.. so it's all good..

Ah thanks for answering these, I have found some information on the questions but many seemed specific to chipset. I take it that this applies to all chipsets and I misread the situation - thanks for clarity.

    thanks again,
