this sounds like a media issue for sure, possibly burner/burn speed.

I think I will request that we get some more documentation added to our packages that cover FAQs.

    For media:
Verbatim dvd-r , look for made in Japan or Made in Singapore, those work best
made in taiwan will likely still work though not the greatest, made in india is just crap

taiyo yuden premium line dvd-r , works great also.

For software, Imgburn works best, burn speed 4x , i dont recommend slower or faster, just 4x works best for some reason

    good luck

Verbatim DVD-Rs (Made in Taiwan) - still cause read errors

I finally was able to find Verbatim DVD-Rs (made in Taiwan) but after I play a game for a little while, the games lock up or cause Wii Read Errors on the screen. What else can I do short of going online to order Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs?

I have been using ImgBurn at 4x (slowest speed available) on these Verbatim DVD-Rs with Incremental set also.

    Comments?

Angry CSI: Hard Evidence -still locks up at same point using Premium line Taiyo Yuden DVD-R

I have tried Maxwell, Memorex, Verbatim and now I ordered online Premium line 8x (recorded at 4x, Incremental using Imgburn) Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs and at the same point it locks up when I burn CSI: Hard Evidence.

Is is possible there is something wrong with the copy? About an hour of play into the game is where is always locks up on me - same place everytime.

Unhappy MySims works on Verbatim DVD-R but not Taiyo Yuden DVD-R ??

Should this be possible? I thought that Taiyo Yuden was the "Golden child" of Wii DVD-Rs. I have burned 2 copies on Taiyo Yuden Premium Line DVD-Rs and both had read errors in the Wii. Other games worked ok on Taiyo Yuden (except for CSI: Hard Evidence - which locks up at the same spot no mater what DVD-R is used), but MySims only works on Verbatim (or let's say does not work on Taiyo Yuden).

I have gone through 4 purchases of DVD-Rs (Maxell, Gigware, Verbatim and now Premium Line Taiyo Yuden) and there are no 100% working brands. The Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden seem to have less read errors and lock ups but there has to be a better way.

This weekend I will try buying Sony DVD+Rs at Walmart and see how they fair up.

Smile Sony DVD+R worked on everything!!!!!!!! not the Verbatim DVD-R or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R

Well this certainly surprised me. I bought some Sony DVD+R disks and found out that my copy of CSI:Hard Evidence was corrupted too. I found a "Scrubbed" version of CSI:Hard Evidence for the wii online (only 19 files vs the 43) - and it worked perfectly. No lock ups at that point in the game. This apparently was ONE of the issues. However, another Emulation Game Cube disk also worked on the SONY DVD+R that never worked on Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs (or any other brand I tried - Maxell, Gigaware).

What I have learned was that although other brands have less problems (but still lock ups and read errors on some games) that Sony DVD+Rs worked perfectly with no issues found so far. After spending almost $100 in trying out 5 brands of DVDs, all I needed was SONY brand found at my local Walmart.

I wish I would have seen some reference to SONY DVD+R previously like I saw all the hype about Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden DVD-R brands.

Can this be referenced as a sticky or note with a higher view potential?

I saw no reference to DVD+Rs either so why does this work?

BTW: Set speed to 2x, write rate was autoset to 4x, 'Incremental' set using Imgburn software too.

I'm gald you finally found the DVD brand and type that will work for you. I personally have mentioned Sony DVD-R as having success and also TDK. So really for unknown reasons one brand will work great for one person but that same brand will not of another. So it boils down to trial and error to figure out which one will work for someone.
    Thanks for the update.

    D2pro9 v2 (D2C) and v1 (DMS) installs

I just installed a D2pro9v2 for a D2C drive chip and another wii with a D2pro9v1 for a DMS drive chip.

Mine is a D2pro9v3 with a D2E drive chip and I had to solder the J wire. I did not have to solder any wires for the other 2 wii mod chips.

I tested with games on Sony DVD+R disks, Verbatim DVD-R disks and Taiyo Yuden "premium line" DVD-R disks. All games on those disks can be read on my D2pro9v3 wii. But the Sony one's have the least problems.

However, on the DMS drive chip using the D2pro9v1, the Sony DVD+R disks could not read at all. The other 2 brands are fine.

All the systems used the wii clip for solder-less snap in (except for mine that used an additional J wire soldered in).

thanks for that input, just goes to show you how one brand can work for a system really well but not work at all on another system. I guess it comes down to how the lasers differ, reminds me of the PS2s.
