    D2CKey on a D2C Board...not working. Help (i'm a noob, ill admit it)

Ok, so here's what i've done.

I bought a D2CKey in a solderless Wii Clip. The soldering is flawless. They also fixed the jumper to be NTSC (USA).

My board is a D2C, NOT A D2C2. I have the second line on numbers on the chip.

I've plugged in the chip and tried running a backup game. The red LED is on constantly, the Blue LED blinks once, then the Wii tells me it doesn't recognize the disc. When Wii Sports is put in, the Chip realizes it's a real game and doesnt really do anything.

My friend who does a lot of modding looked at it and we cant figure out what the deal is with the thing. Do i need some kind of software? i'd appreciate any and all help.... cause im a noob.

If your wii is new wii from say last week of april to near theend of may...you can't just go by the 2 lines of print..., serial #, printing on the board.

If it's a really new wii....the above just goes out the window...

with the d2ckey and wiiclip..... it's really sensitive with the install....

gotta be even and gentle but firm as you push it on....(lol)

also may be your brand of media....

    Modding-inclined friend here:

The chip has been mounted several times, with identical results. It seems clipped in firmly, and it sits level, nearly flush with the board, and not at an angle relative to the chip. I'm also inclined to think it's mounted properly due to the LEDs both lighting.

The original media wasn't of great quality, but we've tried again with Verbatim DVD-R, with the same results.

As for the age and generation, the console is fairly new, but almost certainly older than the last week of April. All the same, is there any definitive way to tell whether it's a new, un-moddable revision?

Any further assistance would be much appreciated.

If your original games don't play and they are in good shape and clean...

    then obviously chip or clip

but you said the soldering is great from chip to clip.....so I am inclined to sthink its the clip interface to the wii chip

it is alot more delicate and harder to install because of all the contacts.

try putting in an original and apply a slight bit of pressure evenly on top of the clip that is directly on top of the wii chip.....see if theres any change in the behaviour.

the d2ckey clips were horribly designed, good thing we revised the d2pro9 clip and came up with v4c, then got that revised to our custom standards

alright, so assuming the clip is the issue (which we all seem to agree on), how does one of these PCB clip things (link below) work?

    Canadamods.ca - Official Distributor for WiiKey, D2CKey, D2Pro, D2PRO9, Wasabi, Wii-Clip etc..... - D2C FlexPCB for D2CKEY (Powered by CubeCart)

if i were to solder the chip to one of those, do i need to solder anything other than the chip to the PCB for the D2CKey?

...is it exactly like the clip (once the chip is soldered) or is there more to it?
