Question D2Pro or Wiikey for older Wii

    Hey all,

Just rec'd a used Wii and I'm guessing it has the DMS or D2A drive as the serial number starts LU1022

Is there any benefit to installing the newer D2Pro over a Wiikey? The installation seems to be about the same but the Wiikey is a little cheaper.

    Any thoughts?

the only thing that I think about is support......since they came out with the d2pro9 which works for the olders wii's also... apparently support wiikey may stop .....then you would need another chip.

now the d2pro9 is more expensive now then it will be in a few months time....
so if you did need a new chip in a few months...it would probably be less $$.

guess what I'm trying to say is....it will in the long run if you had the d2pro9 to begin with....it would probably end up costing the same if you got the wiikey 1st and then upgraded to the d2pro9 in total at a later point.

also this is under the premise that support will stop for the wiikey..as rumour has it.... true or false...no one but them knows

d2pro9 a much better and versatile chip than wiikey and it uses Intelligent Code Modification which makes it totally stealth... where the wiikey is not really stealth.

    best I can tell you.....

Thanks for replying. Got one more question if you don't mind.

The d2pro9 instructions used to have like 4 points for region free but now it just says to load a same region disc after installation so are those points no longer needed?

your are talking about the older d2pro

the newer d2pro9 is the one to get....no need to solder wires for region free...

just put in an original game and run it....right after you have installed the chip

and it will auto select for you

** On older wii's it is only 5 wires including the power and ground ***

stick with a wiikey....yeah d2pro9 is cool but ur paying more money for no reason....the wiikey still has support and when an update has been needed they have released it....be aware there are probably over half a mil wiikeys installed so they wont give up support......wiikey...d2ckey and d2pro are all the same team!
