    d2pro region problem

    Hi all!

I did a lot of research before posting this. I’m almost there, but I feel I’m missing something. Details first, questions next. Thanks to anyone who can help.

    Wii: D2C (NTSC)

    Chip: d2pro (19-wire)

Firmware: 3.1U (I tried to update it, but I guess this is the latest version anyways).

    Wii NTSC backups working

    Gamecube NTSC backups working

Note: I am well informed on region brick, although I’m probably missing something.

Problem: I want to play a backup of SSX Blur (PAL) on my NTSC Wii. I am aware that there may be issues with region brick, because there is a firmware update on the SSX Blur iso.

    Here’s what I tried:

1- Loaded SSX Blur (PAL) on the Wii. Game menu appears in the DVD-ROM channel in the Wii menu. When I start the game, I get the usual “here’s how to use your wiimote” information screen. Then, it’s a black screen, and the wiimote is not responding (leds flashing). Wait 15 seconds. Then, panic attack. Presuming that the Wii is updating the firmware to the PAL version, I hit the power button. Nothing. Then I try a hard reset by holding the power button, and power the Wii back on. Wii loads normally, and software version is still 3.1U. Notice that I didn’t get the usual Nintendo “Do you accept update?” screen.

2- Did some research. Used Wii Brick Blocker v1.3 to patch SSX Blur (PAL). Loaded the DVD into the Wii. Nothing changed, same result as previous DVD.

    Questions

A- Can I presume that my chip is installed correctly since the backups are loading in the Wii DVD channel?

B- Will letting the backup run any longer (blackscreen and buttons not responding) update the firmware to a previous and/or PAL version and result in a bricked Wii?

    C- Am I missing something?

    Thanks for your help!

hey i'm in a similar situation i think
    i have a ntsc wii with a d2pro
i tried running mario party 8 pal version, which i believe also has the updater thing on it. i ran brickblocker on it to remove the update
the game shows up in my channels, but when i run it, the screen just goes black. i don't think it's doing any update or anything because i left it for a while, it just seems to have frozen. all my other games work fine, both ntsc and pal. this is the only one that has trouble...

A lot of chips have issues with these particular games. A work around is to use the recently release Datel Freeloader. Google search for the cracked NTSC version.

I have the PAL version hosted on my site if anyone wants it www.gimp.me.uk/images/freeloader.rar

Once you have it, put it in your Wii... you will see that some colours come across the screen.. eject the disk and put in your backup.. some games that weren't working previously may now work.

    enjoy.

I have the same problem. NTSC Wii + d2pro but firmware is 3.2u...can't play Mario Party 8 and Wario Ware (both PAL). Same thing, screen goes black, no signal from wii to wiimote. But when I tried Datel's freeloader (USA) it worked but then it shows the screen in black and white and its rolling down the screen so I still can't play it but it did load. So I'm thinking it's my TV then? Any clue about this?

all these seem to be burn or media brand/type problems..... the is no issue with the main chips atm

you do not need to use a datel freeloader for any of these....to the best of my knowledge....

    scrub it!!

i had a similar problem, only my Wii is soft-modded.
i tried the ssx pal in usb loader gx but it sent me back to the wii menu.
however, i heard about wii scrubber, look below:
    http://www.wiihacks.com/software-bac...oader-fix.html
after i scrubbed it, it worked just like any other pal game...
but the last issue i can't seem to fix is the screen
after i forced ntsc, i get color like normal, but the screen is kinda shifted down...
its really just a minor annoyance, but at least the game works!
hope this helped, and if anyone can help me with my screen issue, i'd really appreciate it
