The choice is yours but as to why you want to update to something that could potentially cause problems is beyond me. Your probably best to wait a few days and see if anything comes up.
OK, I know the 4.2 softmod thread says hardmods aren't affected, but I just want to double check one more time before I update my system. I have no softmods installed, just a D2Pro. Updating should not be a problem, correct?
Thanks

Not worth it yet. Nothing to gain, lots to lose. One post already mentions that their modchip stopped loading games after 4.2 update.

How are you going to update to 4.x? Via the Internet update? I loaded Beatles Rock Band from an original disk and it only updated to 3.4U. That is a fairly new game.
I only have a hard mod and am curious to know why you would want to update this high?
Yes, from the internet. Woke up this morning and the blue light was flashing on my console. Fired it up and it asked me if I wanted to update. I said no thanks. Actually, I have the url's that it gets the updates from blocked on my router, so it's impossible to update unless I do some changes to the router. I set it up this way so I don't have to worry about the kids accidently upgrading things.
Main reason I went with a modchip was for simplicity reasons. Didn't want to mess around with all the softmod stuff, but now that 4.2 is out I'm thinking about taking the bannerbomb plundge before I lose that chance and upgrade.
I'm in no hurry to update to 4.2. I was just asking the question.
I'm the same boat as you with the modchip (simplicity reasons).
I never thought about the idea of blocking the update url's from the router. How do you get the specific info. on what url's to block?
I updated my Wii before I found out what the update was for. I feel like a dummy for not realizing it sooner.
I did too, you better not upgrade
I googled awhile ago and found the following url's were referenced:Originally Posted by Dunedog [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]

When I updated from 4.0 to 4.1 I wasn't able to update unless I cleared the url's from the filter.
Updated and as anyone else has lost all homebrew. But the chip still works fine on backups for me.
