    My D2pro 9 + WiiClip experience

    Hi all,

This is my first post here so be nice

A week ago my wife decided that it would be good to chip her Wii now it was out of warranty, ive done lots of PC mods (Volt regulator mods etc) in the past but have always sucked at fine soldering so we decided to order a D2Pro 9 pre-soldered onto a WiiClip.

Anyway it arrived today so I was eager to plonk it in and give it a try so using the great guides on this site I opened up the Wii and popped on the clip.
When I tried to power up the red light came on and stayed on and the Wii would not load up eject any discs.
Thats when I started my cold sweat....

So I shot in here and had a search and unfortunately found alot of replies of "WiiClips are F$*ked just try and solder it and see if you can do it", not really helpful. Most other replies were to buy the gear to do a firmware update on the chip or buy a wasabi....

So I went back and removed the chip, the Wii booted fine and played the original discs fine. So replacing the chip I tried again, Red light, blue light, red light then stays on. The drive would spin up and groan with no disc in but not accept anything again. I decided it must be a connection issue so I used a tiny flat screwdriver to spring the pins on the WiiClip inward and then reattached the clip to the Wii..... Success!

Everything is now working fine, originals are playing and so are my backups!

I know this post has been long winded and I really do commend you for reading this far (Although I question your use of spare time). I really just wanted to post this in the off chance it helps someone else who was having the same issues as me.

Thanks for the great site, I keep finding great info and help all over it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles but glad you sorted it ... where did you order the clip from (i presume it was an original WiiClip and not a fake?)?

Now all you need is an old LG drive, Verbatim -R's, Rawdump, RegionFrii, WiiBrickBlocker, SureThing and Imgburn ... then your 'factory' will be sorted :-)

Do you really need RegionFrii and WiiBrickBlocker? What are they?

I use Regionfrii to check the iso is definitely my region and then I use WiiBrickBlocker to make sure I will not be getting unknown updates. It only takes a sec to run these two apps and it makes sure I not going to get anything unexpected

I know that the time you save is a matter of seconds, but brickblocker also tells you the region, so you don't really need Regionfrii for that as well
