The tut on soldering is good, but I have to say its an SMD chip and you are soldering 0.5mm pins and trying not to solder 2 pins together. If you overheat you might take the track off the board. I would practice on a junk board with SMD components first - its cheaper especially if you have only done soldering 101.
You really need a temperature controlled iron or station from around $70 upwards. Some solder, some desolder braid if you make a boo-boo, some tweezers and if you have crappy eyesight, a desk magnifying glass of X4, some 30 AWG kynar wire, some 26 AWG wire for power points, a philips and triwing screwdriver. Think that will do
