k.. yes this does make things confusing. I got a reply from Canadamods as well yesterday and they gave me a RMA and noted that they will send me a V2 version... Is this the best route? Is this because of the bad Wii Clip? My understanding is that the V3 has updated software not released to general public and going backwards to a V2 makes sense? any body has comments what I should do.. Should I just attempt to solder the J joint?
thanks
You have the same problem? Do you have a D2E chip? I'm not sure what is going to happen here. If this is indeed a wii clip problem, I'm not sure that the V2 will work with the D2E chip.

I havent heard of bad d2pro chips, just bad clips.
The green sticker V2 board is only for DMS, D2A, D2B, D2C, D2C-2
The blue sticker V3 is for DMS, D2A, D2B, D2C, D2C-2 and D2E
The latest firmware was for V2 as V3 comes with it already installed.
There is now the d2lite chip due to be released - I have no idea what the difference is.

So I'm thinking that either there is something wrong with my install (which seems nearly idiot proof) or that there may be something with the clip itself? I do know that when I installed it, I listened for the 'click' and there was none. I did push down fairly firmly, and it was as tight as it was going to be. So I am learning towards to that I may have a bad wii clip. I'll wait for the canadamods people to see what they would like for me to do.
Well, they had me try some things with the chip and clip. Taking some pictures, unmasking some electrical tape, and then re-masking it. Finally offering an RMA. I sent it off today. I hope to get a replacement soon.
The wii-clip that it came with says 'V4C-9', so I think I have D2Pro9. The problem is I don't know what version I have, there is no sticker on the bottom of the modchip. Anyway when I turn the Wii on the chip light up red for about 1/2 a second then the blue light comes on and stays on. The drive does not spin up and I can't eject. Any ideas?
Ok, there are issues with D2E.
Do you have a blue sticker or green sticker under the modchip?
Do you know what firmware is currently loaded in the modchip?
Inside the clip is there writing ? (both sides of the grey end)
Depending on the above, it could be
bad clip/fake clip
wrong firmware - needs upgrading - see d2pro website
clip not on properly
Thanks, I spoke to another reseller who was very helpful. The modchip I was probably a version 2, but there was no sticker on it. I have sent it back to the original supplier and ordered a new one from this seller (at least he answers the phone). Hopefully this will sort it out, although there is a chance I will have to solder a wire from j to j, hopefully it will arrive tomorrow and I can find out.
