Backups Don't Play

Gents, I've spent a few hours searching here and I'm not clear on the answer.

I'm an American currently living in Hong Kong. I bought a modded US Wii here in July '08. It is an LU57 serial. The shop who sold me the Wii said it was D2C but I've never opened it. It is running 3.3U firmware.

All backups have worked until recently, and they are all US NTSC. Excitebots Racing was first to not work. And now Mario Tennis will not work. The drive never acknowledges the disc even though I hear it spinning. Regardless of whether I WiiBrickBlock the .iso first or not, the outcome is the same - no read.

Any thoughts? I only need to be able to play backups. I'm not a homebrewer or anything else. Tonight I softmodded with HBC and installed cIOS and cMIOS, along with Backup Loader, but none of that solved the problem.

I would install a sd/Usb Loader like GX loader or similar, it will allow you to copy from your drive if it works, or you can just place iso's on HD using WBFS manager 3.0 and play off there.
