"Sorry no d2pro chip found"

Ive been searching online for a couple days on this one and can't solve it myself.

I purchased a wiiclip2 with d2pro9 v3 attached in early July 09. Whenever I load the utility disk 1.7 I get the message "Sorry, no d2pro chip found".

It was suggested that I burn using verbatim -r manufactured in singapore with ImgBurn at 4x. Ive tried burning as low as 1x yet still get the message.

I have used two different kinds of media (including Verbatim -Rs) in two different burners on two different computers.

I openned and reseated the chip on the board and tripple checked the clip was evenly seated.

The backups all boot fine, and was able to load a homebrew GCOS based disk without a hitch. The LEDs follow all the typical patterns that would indicate it is working properly, I just can't configure it.

3 things

1. you could have a legit d2pro with some kind of weird error

2. you could have d2pro with 0.9, 1.0 firmware. DVD upgradability only came after 1.1 firmware. which was after 1 or 2 months of rls

3. You could have a clone, i.e. wii wasp, or a D2All

Thank you for replying! I came to the conclusion that, after all is said and done it is booting backups and playing what I ask it to, so aside from not being able to adjust the settings which should all be on by default, im not missing out on anything.

I purchased it from a reputable seller so I'm thinking option 1, I really don't want to wait 3 weeks there and 3 weeks back to find out ive got a bad connection on the wii IC or other unfixable problem.

It doesn't appear to be a common issue so I'll have to get used to it. If anyone comes across this though and finds a solution PLEASE post a reply.

Open it up and check if its a proper d2pro
Get rid of the clip and do a proper wired install
