D2C2PRO9w/clip randomly allows me to eject/insert

Out of the blue my wii stopped ejecting and taking discs, then it will randomly work. I can be in the middle of a game and the drive refuses to even spin, then 4 hours later it works perfect. Now today its worse off than it has ever been.

I tried a 1.7 flash DVD and it says outdated or corrupt. I do not have a flasher available, has anyone else had this issue? Should I try to reseat the wii clip?

No idea but I am looking for help as well. Mine started doing this, got progressively worse, and now will not work at all with the chip installed. Works fine with non-backup games w/o the chip. Drive will not spin, eject, or accept discs with the key in though. No idea where to go from here....

Chip started working again and now I'm feeling its completely dead. I opened it up and it was red, unclipped and reclipped it still red. Re did the J wire and I got BLUE. However still will not accept a game.

Uninstalled it and sure enough it works. Re-Soldered it to the clip and still no go. Lights up blue but will not spin up the drive.

Suggestions? Should I try to wire install it knowing the chip may be dead? My solder has gotten better but would rather not have to do the ICs.
