Question D2Pro v3 with twilight hack, am I gonna brick this when I update to 4.0?

This is my first post and I am a complete Noob about this. I started off installing the twilight hack and installed the homebrew channel. Went through some of the forums trying to figure out how to play backups tried installing some .wad files (no idea if I was successful or not) and decided to go ahead and order a mod chip. Most games work but newer games like punch out or UP! don't. I put the disk in and get Wii system update, and then I try reburning the image with brickblocker the system locks up after trying to load and I have to either unplug the power or hold down the power button to restart. I have no idea what .wad or .iso I tried to install. I know my system is at 3.4u right now. Will I brick my system if I upgrade, and what will I lose if I do. Thanks in advance.

I upgraded mine to V4 though an update from a game disk. After the update, twilight hack game files were deleted by the update. I can not copy it back to the Wii system memory from SD card anymore. Homebrew channel was not effected. Most of the backup disks worked however Zelda, Mario Kart and a few more stopped working after the update.
