D2PRO9 Solderless wont play backups but utility disk works?

I burned the utility disk 1.7 on a Sony DVD+R and it works. Since now im out of those dvd's I tried burning a wii backup on a Fujifilm DVD-R, and Verbatim DVD-R but both give me a black screen telling me to eject the disc and refer to the manual. I tried many other DVD-R's and a Fujifilm DVD+R and still no luck. I managed to get one Sony DVD+R with MadWorld on it to work for a while but then it gave me The Disc Could not be Read error and now it wont work at all. I also opened up the wii to check if its connected good and it goes from red to blue which is correct. When I put in the Fujifilm DVD-R with MarioKart on it in, it would go from red to blue and the blue would flicker for a while and then it would make this sort of clicking noise till it gives the error screen. Does anyone know whats wrong?

What version of firmware is the Wii running at ? From my own recent experience, if you have upgraded to V4.0 then D2Pro won't run backup games.

AFAIK, the D2Pro needs the firmware to be at 3.2 - anything above that doesn't allow the false key on backed up discs to be read properly. Suggest you downgrade to v3.2 and it should work again - mine did !

There is an excellent tutorial on how to do just that in the tutorial section and don't forget to take off 'auto update' on the D2Pro.

the firmware version of the wii has no bearing on the d2pro. the wii does not need to be at 3.2.

when i first got mine, i had the same problem.

the utility disc is built and loaded as a gamecube disc. my burned wii games did not work and it was very annoying UNTIL i borrowed my housemates newer better burner. i burned the same iso's onto the same batch of verbatim, and they worked.

use another burner, that should solve your problem. also search imgburn setting in the forum. imgburn is a freeware program which is regarded as the best burning software for iso. specifically, you can manually set the layer break figure. this is essential for +r dvds. -r dvds does not matter about the layer break

i bet its a burner issue aswell.. fujifilm dvd-r have a disc id :RITEKF1
there what i use,not 1 bad one yet with samsung burner and imgburn@1x
from what i read RITEKF1 are suppose to be a good choice also jvc dvd-r are RITEKF1 and work 100% for me..
dvd+r ithink are suppose to be hard on the laser,so i also would try removing chip and try playing an original disc,to rule out possabile drive/laser damage

When you say it cannot play, do you mean that you get message error 1?

I essentially have a similar issue. Its a d2pro9 v2.3 solderless wiikey clip and when i turn on my Wii, it blinks from blue to red a few times and then goes blue for a bit at the end.

Now I inserted EA Active and I get Error #1. I tested original games and there's no problem they work fine. Also the utility disc works fine. I used Verbatim +R DL with a LG burner at 2.4x with clonedvd. Can you guys help me out?? Should I rather use strickly dvd-r verbatim media? Oh and my Wii is at 3.4u

Thanks for any help (this is my first post btw),
