D2Pro v3 with clip - Bad chip?

Hey all. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I tried searching for an answer but came at a dead end. I contacted the tech support for the company that I purchased it from but no response yet. I was hoping that someone may have a clue on what to do. Here is my problem:

Everything for the Wii was working great expect when I added the chip the drive would make a "sucking" noise and slowly take discs (I tried Wii Sports). The chip had a steady red light. I then tried barely placing the chip the sucking noise stopped but the chip still wouldn't work and it would fall off when I tried to close everything. I then removed the chip to see if it was my drive but everything works well without the chip and the games play fine.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Thanks for your speedy reply but I guess I"m having a bit of trouble or maybe my hamster in my head isn't working quite right for the last week.

Anyways, I guess I forgot to mention that the games or any disc won't load or play when I put the chip in. The original games will play without the chip. Am I supposed to softmod it first or am I way outta line?

Again, thanks for your help!

my backups didnt work the first time i installed the same chip as you. however, the only disc that did load was the utility disc from d2pro site. their iso is built as a gamecube disc i believe so this migght have ,ade the difference. after lots of reading on this site, i found that all i needed to do was borrow my friends burner as mine just didnt work with wii isos. i used verbatim +r discs

Ahhh i see. Well I guess it must be my burner. I have the Verbatim -R discs and burned it at 2x. I guess it's time to find the right burner. Thanks again!

You're the best!

Also, it sounds like your clip sux as usual. Try soldering it in instead.

Sooo here is an update... I decided just to buy another chip. It was driving me crazy. I bought the Wasabi DX with a clip. Now here is where I have a question. I made it into the Wasabi Zero by adding the clip but that too didn't work (the DVD drive didn't want to take any discs). When I installed it as a Wasabi DX then it worked. Does anyone know why none of the clips work??? I bought this Wii the beginning of the year, perhaps the other chip was okay but maybe my IC just didn't want to take it? Any thoughts?

Thank you everyone for your help

By the way I might try to install the D2Pro on someone elses Wii to see if it works.

the clips do work, thats why there is a market for them.

would you be able to post photos of your ic, the soldering on each clip and the pins on the clip. if they get bent they are screwed, all though i am sure you put it in with care.

its the details that will lead to the answers friend.

if you done everythinig right, then my first thought would be that the clips are porrly soldered, especially if you got them from the same supplier

did you use one of the recommended suppliers from this forum? as they will offer free after sales support
