Booting Homebrew channel using a bootable Zelda disc

On the savemii site it has the following note:

"Do you have 3.3 installed, so you can't use the above homebrew ISO? Did you brick your Wii using something other than an incorrect system menu version? If you have a modchip, there's still a way you can fix your Wii, but only if you previously had the Twilight Hack installed. For those who use it to install HBC, don't delete it once you're done! It can mean the difference between a fixable and an unfixable Wii in cases such as this one. If your Wii can't boot fakesigned discs, but you have the Twilight Hack installed, then you can burn a backup of Twilight Princess modified to autoboot (of course, you should only do this if you own the original!), and then use the existing Twilight Hack to launch some homebrew from your SD card, and use that to fix your Wii. Phew!"

By the phrase "incorrect system menu version" are they referring to an update from the wrong region?

hmmm...many views but no replies.....

ok..I know the Korean Wii is not paticularly well known.

Anyway, another question, I have been finding various things which talk about being able to boot direct to the homebrew channel from an DVD ISO file, even on firmware 3.3.

Now, I have a bricked Korean wii with firmware 3.3KOR. Bricked by doing an update with NTSC-U Wii Music (..yea..I know..). The press "A" screen appears in English and then freezes after pressing A (previously was in Korean)

I have the homebrew channel installed

I have the twilight hack installed (from an NTSC-J disk)

I have firmware 3.3 KOR

I have a working savemii

I have a 100Mbs internet conection - up & down

I don't have a korean game with the 3.4 update on it.

The good admiral on here advises that I can fix it with a Korean game with 3.4 update. Unfortunately I am having trouble finding such a game by fair means or foul. A couple of games were officially released in January (in Korea) but you cannot buy them anywhere??? Anyway, I cannot verify if any of these games actually have the 3.4 update anyway...

OK..cut to the chase ........can I fix it this brick?

or should I be looking at another 210 000 KRW for a new wii and a new drive chip?

Peter,
let me see if I am following your story between the 2 posts correctly.............
you purchased a few Korean Wii's for the children
you used TP to downgrade them to 3.2J but it still reads 3.3J ?
and then played an NTSC U (USA game)
The fact that it is bricked is a good indication you didn't install Starfall

The 3.4 update, to my limited knowledge, is only available from the big N .. on the Wii settings page..which at the moment you cannot access ?

I think you will need a modchip to be able boot to the HBC from an ISO as it will not be recognised as a Wii disk
