Angry Game loads but will not play...

I recently tried backing up my Link's Crossbow Training as the disc is getting a bit tatty (young child in the house). The only issue is that although the game boots to the start screen, when you click start it then displays a Cannot Read Game Disc message.

I have done this same method before on my original Wii Sports disc with no issues. I have used the same method of dumping and burning and am writing at 2x on Verbatim DVD-R.

I have a D2Pro installed on a D2E console. I have tried other backups too from friends to see if the error happens with their games, but unfortunately my disc seems unique in producing this error.

I was under the impression that if there was an issue with the burn then the game would not be recognised by the disc channel in the first place. Is there anything else I can try or is there a workaround for this issue.

Cheers,

Steve

have you tried to take your cross bow training game to a gamexchange or something like that, they usually have a nice resurfacer, saved alot of my ps2 games. you should try to resurface it and try backing it up again

Like that idea....didn't know you could resurface a disc!

Will try the admirals suggestion of burning slower too, but I would rather save the original if I can!!

just to clarify, is there a possibility of a bad burn causing a game to load properly to the start screen and then fail at that point?
