Guide: Getting Started With A Custom SysMenu

I bet lots of you out there want to get a custom System Menu theme. I'll show you how to get started with it.

Let me just say first: PROPER BRICK PROTECTION IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED WITH PRIILOADER AND BOOTMII/BOOT2!!!!!!

    Requirements:
    Some Way to load homebrew
    The Pack included there ->
    Wii Custom SysMenu Pack.zip
    Themes

    Let's get Started!

    Step 1~Get the 000000xx.app file
In order to make a csm, you need the 0000xx.app file. the .app file's like a "container" for the system menu that contains essential files. To get it, we'll use FSToolbox.
    A- Download the pack

I included a pack with everything you need. Keep MyMenu on your computer and put the rest on your SD card. Rename the (1) files to icon and (2) files to meta and put them in the appropriate folders.
Your SD card should look something like this:
    X:\apps
    X:\apps\FSToolbox\files included
    X:\apps\MyMenuify\files included

    B- Run FSToolbox

FSToolbox is a nice little app that lets you dump any of your Wii's internal memory.
Load it up, select cIOS 249 if you have it 36 if you don't.
    Press A twice.
You should now have a list of your wii's internal memory.
    Navigate as follows to:
    /title/00000001/00000002/content
there will be some .app files here. You need to get the right one.

    • 00000042.app = 3.2 NTSC-U
    • 00000045.app = 3.2 PAL
    • 00000072.app = 4.0 NTSC-U
    • 00000075.app = 4.0 PAL
    • 0000007b.app = 4.1 NTSC-U
    • 0000007e.app = 4.1 PAL
    • 00000087.app = 4.2 NTSC-U

Once you find the right one, press - to dump it to your SD Card.
Now that we've got the .file, let's move on to the next step.

    Step 2-Make the menu

Now that we've got the app file, all we need is a MYM file.

    A- Get a mym file

WADder has a pretty good repository of mym files. Get one from there or google one.

    B- Make it with MyMenu

We have everything we need. Now you can make the menu with MyMenu. Install it, browse for the .app, then the .mym, click Create MyMenu! and wait a few seconds. Then you will have your own menu!

Step 3- Install it with MyMenuify

MyMenu makes the file, MyMenuify installs 'em. Load it your preferred way, find whatever you named your cSM, click on it, and press yes.

If it worked out correctly, you should have a cSM up and running!

I hope this works for you and best of luck

I've never used FSToolbox but I will check it out. Thank you for the tip.

If I could make a suggestion, change your warning to WITH PRIILOADER AND BOOTMII/BOOT2!!!!!! I know first hand that if you get a bad theme then Priiloader can be corrupted or removed and then your SOL without boot2.
