    Dumps? Lock-ups? Other Crazy Issues?

So far I have helped mod 3 Wii's. My own and 2 others. All 3 of us have encountered strange problems...

First off, Dumps. Random Times, Random places, random points.
What exactly is a dump? Why when the thing says it will restart in 5 secs.. it never restarts? How can I fix this?

Lock-ups, either the thing locks up completely once it gets into the USB loader or something once inside the loader the hand disappears and you are forced to unplug the Wii in order to reset it.

Wii wont power off. You can hold down the power button or the power button on the remote and nothing turns it off. You have to get up and unplug it in order to power it down.

Are all of these due to bad Wad files? I am sure you are going to want to know some info about the Wii's but other then what version I am running, your going to have to explain to me how to find that info for you.

The latest issue I have had is while swapping stuff from my external HDD.. I guess I somehow jacked it up.. and now, well now it is giving me an error. When I load the drive from the loader it shows no games. When I insert a disc to rip, it says "Install not possible. You are using NTFS filesystem. Due to possible write errors to a NTFS partition. Installing a game not possible" How did this happen? I guess my only choice now is to reformat the drive and re-install all my games back from the drive I just installed too? Correct?

Horray for Wii errors. Any help anyone can be to any of these subjects would be great. Thanks so much for taking the time to read and hopefully help.
If you ask me for something or explain something, please give me the complete noob version since thats what I am and I am still learning so please have a little patience with me.

    Thanks again.

    What loader you using?
I find Configurable USB loader to be most stable and useful
    Configurable USB Loader - GBAtemp.net

Anyway back to your question, dump is basically information of program or libraries which were running at at time when system/console crashed, so if you are programmer you can use it to track a problematic file.
But since it hardlocks (you need to plug off cable from Wii) its unable to save a dump file (at least i think its related).

Use WBFS manager and check if WBFS partition is viewable (if you using WBFS partition that is, if not i would recommend it anyway). Otherwise you maybe need to reformat your HDD, it nothing else helps.

    Thanks for the reply.
I took the part of the drive that was in pc format and unassigned it. It was didnt have any data on it anyways so not like I lost anything. As soon as I made that part nothing, my drive went back to acting fine.

I think my Wii was trying to read the wrong section of the drive.

Is there some place you can report your dumps to ppl and maybe get them fixed? That would be might nice if there is.

    Thanks again.

Thank you again for the advice. I will look into it and see if I can't find a place to report those things.
