Hi

Just hacked my wii and got everything working exactly how I like it. However the Mrs is starting to show an interest in playing games.

Rather than let her mess it all up is there anyway to enable USB loader GX to start as soon as you turn on the wii.

I can then just tell her the basics how to use - basically click click and the game starts.

Would need a way though to stop it auto starting if I need to change something.

Any ideas?

If you have Preloader 0.29 installed, you can get preloader configured so that you power on to SD card that contains GX Forwarder you can leave GX Loader channel installed. (That way she has to exit out of GX Loader to go to HB/or Menu. I had that set up on My kids.

I got my mom to work the Wii menu..."Mom, click the USB loader channel...then pick your game..."

She should be ok

I recently did a similar thing. Only i am using coverfloader (i love the ability to download the covers over the net) and i used preloader to auto boot coverfloader whenever the wii is turned on.

All you need to do is copy the boot.dol file into the root of your sd card. I renamed it to coverfloader.dol so as to distinguish with other .dol files already in the root of my sd card.

Then in the settings menu of preloader you can load the file and make your wii boot into whatever app you like.

Thanks very much - after about 30 minutes of messing around worked out that you had to copy the file to the root of the SD card, choose file in settings.

Then choose the load / install and "install" the root.dol file you want to start at poweron.

I expected it to just read what ever "root.dol" file was on the SD card and run it. Now even works without the card in although the covers and settings are missing.

Works great thanks - the normal menus are now all hidden - USB loader GX is all you can access unless you know the power on - reset trick.
