Mplayer will do mp3's as well.... Mplayer will give your superior quality over using orb via Internet Channel.... Just as good as if you were viewing a DVD. (Has a problem with h.264 video tho)

Orb and those alike are just not suited for the wii.. Poor quality and cumbersome.

And Mplayer will stream some internet content directly without use of the Internet Channel... like Shoutcast.... YouTube... but the flexibility is somewhat limited on this.

Ah that's what the software was called, Orb.

As mentioned Orb plays video at a rather annoying 12fps and small video size. I tried watching some video a while back before I softmodded and while watchable it just can't compete with full screen Xvid decompression on the Wii through Mplayer CE.

The OP could be spamming, nevertheless it's not posting a retail priced application and not ripping anyone off, it's all free and therefore people can make their own minds up.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

I have a Xbox 360 that does this without using the internet - It's the only thing I really use if for - streaming Xvid\Divx files to my TV - Great sound - Best Video

I believe the PS3 does this as well

All I have to do is turn on the 360 look into videos on my laptop and pick what I want to watch - no programs to run it just pulls the data from the laptop over the wireless signal and plays

I love the 360 for this ability - again - Don't use it for much else except maybe UFC Undisputed which I read somewhere is coming out for the wii - sick - what will it be like - two guys holding onto wiimote and numchuks rolling on the ground together

I know the 360 is a pretty expensive piece of hardware but I love it more for it's media capabilities then game play (which are the best too) We pay good money or computers and Stereo receivers why not invest in a XBOX or even a PS3 for that matter

    Just a thought

    Scotty Mac

There's a short description of setting up smb shares I did on the Mplayer thread here --> Wiihacks - Nintendo Wii Hacks Community - View Single Post - Recommended: Play DVDs on your Wii with Mplayer CE and DVDX

Yeah that is a method if you have for your wii

I have the luxury of the 360

No choppy video or sound and the fact that it is in HD.

Sorry if I offened you - just sharing

How about I compare the two and give a review

    Scotty Mac

Just another thought - I don't think the wii has the HD abilities of lets say the 360 for high quaility viewing experiences.
