    What media are you using?

Does you Wii play other backup games, or any at all?

You do have ISO files on your PC and you are using ImgBurn to burn the ISO to DVD-R right?

The more info - the more you will get answers.

If your wii was just bought, it will have the new chip in it that wont allow burned games to work. If you are downloading the games off a torrent or another website, youll want the format in iso format with the exact byte size to be 4,699,979,776. Use imgburn at 2x speed using dvd-r's. Also, how do you know the games arent working? Is it that they are failing when being verified, showing a black screen when you try to load them or what? It could be perfectly good burns but you are missing files on the wii.

To be honest with you, media brand really wont make a difference between the game working or not working. I will say though that a cheaper brand though it might play now and months from now, it "could" wear out your drive quicker than a good brand would. I know for a fact that tayo Yudins are the best brand to get. Those are made in Japan and are hard to get ahold of. The best brand you can get in the States are Verbatims. I have also used HP, Sony and Maxell without a problem. Really if you burn the game at the correct speed, youll be good 99% of the time. Just remember that the darker the dye is on the disc, the easier it is for the drive to read it, thus the drive will last longer.

Ok and do they fail when they are burning or when you pop the disc into the wii?

I haven't heard of Philips being recommended for the Wii, so I guess that is where your problem lies.

Ritek are another brand (the deep purple on the bottom ones) which have a very good success rate, and I burn at 20 speed and have no problems with the Wii reading & playing games.

What speed are you burning at? Also, make sure the burn verifies. Make sure you arent using any other programs. Dont have the screen saver turn on. Dont be searching the web. Basically dont use anything that uses processor speed. That will lower the buffer rate and will cause a failed burn.
