Wii U Launch More Successful Than Launches Of Xbox 360 And PS3

Nintendo have always been the leader when it comes to sales.

DS is the best selling console while Wii figures 4th in the same list (best selling video game consoles).

Nice sentiment on this fine holiday, but alas it's untrue. Look at sales of N64 and GCN. They lost the lead during that era.

Yes, true. I don't think Nintendo has really lead the pack since the SNES days. But N64 and GCN were pretty underrated.

Both the N64 and GCN were excellent consoles on my opinion. I spent more time on those than on the Wii.

Next to the SNES, GCN is my favorite system. I did love N64 though, hard to beat Super Mario 64, GoldenEye 007, Lego Racers the Zeldas and all the other titles I'm forgetting

I never actually played DK64...but I did love the heck out of the DKC games

Wii U launch price is much more competitive than its rivals were.
I remember when the PS3 launched in Australia, the price was set
at $1000!

And I'm pretty sure the Xbox 360 launched at around the $680 mark.
Nintendo in comparison, are far more competitive this time around.
Learned a lesson from the 3DS launch sales I'd say.

Definitely, I think here in USA PS3 was only $600 but still that is pretty expensive. Of course Sony excused that by stating how it is also a Blu-Ray player lol.

I can't wait to get my hands on a Deluxe WiiU one day.

nintendo has the main "mario" , "pokemon" titles which beats any sony game, mario an pokemon rule !

you guys do realize that the xbox 360 and ps3 have been on the market for years... 6 or so, so it makes sense that nintendo would have sold more units, but to compare the wii u to those console doesn't really say much.

Nintendo attracts the average parent because of the non-violent games it promotes. Consider the price difference of Nintendo products versus Sony and Microsoft. The sales obviously reek of children and chewed bubble gum stuck to my shoes.

That's not entirely true, I know many people over the age of 18 who own Nintendo systems (including the Wii). Well they do pride themselves as a family gaming company they don't shun away hardcore or adult gamers. I'll admit the GC and Wii didn't have a good run of M or T games but they are changing that with the WiiU. Ratings don't really say much anyway though, if all E or K-A games were avoided because they're considered "kid games" think of how many classic titles we would've missed out on. Not just from Nintendo but from Sega & Sony too.

How many people play Battlefield and Call of Duty on the Wii...? Lol. That's my case, and those games are built with the online community behind them which Nintendo completely lacks and fails at.

Wii has 2 Call of Duty games :|
Plus several other online games and FPS games. But I do agree with you, Nintendo's Wi-Fi service was terrible on Wii. It worked well on DS but for Wii it was bad. Supposedly they're doing better with WiiUs Wi-Fi service though.

i remember the game cube that system was a tank! it was virtualy indestructable. that has been one thing about nintendo devices i have liked they are like apple -really strong hardware. it may not be the most advanced, but it is really stable.
