just reading that if you cut the power it bricks the system!

Well sure, I mean if its trying to write data to the NAND/HDD (whatever they're calling its internal memory) it can screw it up. Which is why WiiU needs to get brewed soon, so people can put a Priiloader or BootMii like program on it and save the system from certain death.

maybe he could rewrite is so that it could work with wiiu...maybe give him a reason to get rid of the verification...anyways can't wait to see what else the talented devs find out about the system

Even though GC discs can't be played directly from the Wii U, I'm sure once the shell is hacked off of this thing, we can expect a GC emulator. Sounds like the easiest way to go, in my book.

But wouldn't you have it under warranty. So if you do get bricked and the wii Hasn't been modded then your good.

Yes, in theory. Of course, that would require sending it into Nintendo and waiting for them to fix it. According to the buzz around the internet, they're going to have their hands full flashing a lot of Wii U NANDs in the next few weeks. There's nothing worse than having to send your $350 console into the company for repairs (that were caused by the company and could have been avoided) the day you got it.

I have mine sitting in my closet, just waiting for Christmas day. However, I do believe it'd be a good idea to pull it out this Friday night, after the kids have gone to bed, and run this update. If it bricks, it's going back to the store for a full refund. If not, then Merry Christmas...

Even if Devolution was optimized for use on WiiU it wouldn't work, you still need a GC controller...so until teudj makes it able to use Wii Classic cons like he's stated he will, it won't work on WiiU.

I'm surprised no one has tried to softmod the Wii-U in Wii mode, I think I will try this when I get home. If that works it will be removing my Wii console from my livingroom setup tonight lol. On a serious note, has anyone tried this??

I have yet to see it. However, since someone was already able to get into the HBC in Wii-Mode, then I think it's plausible that the IOS structure and versions are the same. What I would like to see (and something that I would definitely do before any additional hacking) is grab a SysCheck. I'm curious to see what sort of information that will yield.

So has someone successfully installed the HBC on the Wii U Wii mode?

Yup, he uses the Smash Bros exploit. It doesn't require the HBC.

I get the feeling that (After reading about Wii-mode on this forum and several others) that the Wii-mode IOS files are actually readonly/locked down so that even if you do get homebrew running on it, you can't have it overwrite IOS files to get new features.
Which would probably hinder tons of homebrew, though would be interesting to see if there are any exploits in the way that the Wii U performs Wii-mode

(This coming from a person who doesn't have a Wii U)

What is IOS62? Is it needed for the latest Shop Channel v21? Just wondering, cause I downloaded the IOS Update from the Softmod any Wii guide, and there is no IOS62.
