• Wilbrand Launcher v1.8

This is yet another Windows only tool to help you create the Wilbrand exploit used to softmod your Wii. The computer needs internet access while creating the exploit. However, a Wii console connected to the internet is NOT needed as the exploit is loaded from the SD card.

    HOW TO USE...
Power on the Wii and verify if your date on Wii is correct (if it isn't.. fix it)
Go to Settings -> Internet -> Console Information and take a look at the MAC Address.
Now start Wilbrand Launcher , type the MAC Address and the other info.
Create the exploit, then copy and paste the files into the root of the SD card.
Now you can place the SD card into the Wii.
Go to the Messageboard and navigate to Yesterday.
    Click on the Green Letter....
And wait that Hackmii Installer start. =)

    Download Wilbrand Launcher 1.8

UGH, I already have a softmodded wii, but I am using the old version of the homebrew channel. I need to change which IOS it is installed to aparently and that requires reinstalling it via one of these methods. Is it worth it/necessary?

It's very worth it to have HBC run in Ios58 IMO, apps seem to load faster.

All you need to do is run the hackmii installer from your old HBC...it will update it for you. Download it from HERE and extract directly to your apps folder. Launch your old version of HBC and run Hackmii installer. Simple as that... (BTW you must have IOS58 installed for it to run on IOS58. If the new version of HBC runs on any other IOS you need to download IOS58, install it, then reinstall the HBC again via the same method you just used)

How is this related to Wilbrand? Off-topic post man.

Wiibrand is a tool used to install the homebrew channel on wiis. As a person who already has it installed, I was asking if I should use this to update homebrew channel. Not off-topic. Now I know I can simply run hackmii-isntaller from the previous homebrew channel.

so is this better than banner bomb? like...does this install bootmi as boot2 as well, or it just installs homebrew?

An exploit is just an exploit. It's used to launch some unofficial code (usually the HackMii Installer to install the HBC and BootMii). So it's no better or worse than BannerBomb. Just different.

Does Wilbrand simply create the exploit no matter what mac address you put it? I ask because my prefix is not recognized on the please.hackmii website therefore it will not create the zip file for me it just gives me a message at the bottom of the page saying "The exploit will only work if you enter your Wii's MAC address." And I am guessing this is because it checks the Nintendo mac address database for my mac address. And yes I am putting in the right mac address because I even took a picture of it to insure I was doing everything right and yes I did select 4.3U system menu even though it was selected by default. Even my serial number doesn't show up its all just cooky. My prefix is 8c.cd.e8 and from what I have researched it is not even a registered prefix for Nintendo...Anyway any help or answers would help a lot. Thank you

If you have the wii connected to the internet just open the HBC and let it update.

You could always download the latest HMI from here and update. But 1.1.2 has no enhancements for the normal Wii, so there is really no point.

      Hi all

I am trying to use wiibrand to softmod a virgin 3.1e wii.

I am following the steps as closely as I can. I am getting the red envelope in the message board in my wii.

I am loading it. Then it brings up the dialogue box that says "THIS SOFTWARE MUST NOT BE SOLD NEITHER ALONE NOR......"

However, at this point I cannot go any further.

At this stage, it should ask me to press A to continue, shouldn't it? Because that is not happening.

Any help would be much appreciated.

      Thanks

We are not the authors of Wilbrand, nor do we support it.

If you want to mod your system, we do have a guide that we recommend. A link to it is in my signature: Softmod Any Wii guide.

If it truly is a virgin system, I would (note, others wouldn't) use Nintendo update to update it to 4.3 first, then mod with letterbomb.

If you don't want to do that, you can use the bannerbomb v1 in the guide to start the process, but since the menu is below 3.2, you'll have to use MMM instead of Wii Mod to install the wad files (another reason why I suggest updating to 4.3 first).

If it is already modded, then you don't want to do Nintendo's updates.

      Hi Llaffer

      Thanks for your guidance.

I have previously done a full softmod to a different wii; a version 4.2. That went 100% successfully from start to finish. I used the standard 'softmod any wii' guide on wiihacks.com to do that wii.

However, when I try to softmod the 3.1e wii, I cannot even get boot.dol to load (via the standard 'channels' - 'sd card' method).

This is why I am trying the wiibrand method (as recommended by cjizzle).

However, now I find the wiibrand method is freezing at the initial dialogue box and not asking me to 'press 1 to continue'.

So, I am open to any suggestions.

Do you recommend that step 1, I should update the wii to the official nintendo update (4.3) before I proceed?

      Thank you for your guidance

So I should try the official Nintendo update for starters then?

Are there drawbacks to this approach?

      Thanks
