or you could try and update wiiflow from your wii, it's your old wiiflow settings causing the issues, because it was set for a wbfs partition.
update to USB Loader GX R1200,Replace the boot.dol in your SD or USB /apps/ usbloader_gx with the updated one.( r1200_IOS249)
sometimes when you update USB Loader GX, you have to remove the GXGameSettings.GFG file in usbloader_gx app because it was set to use the old USB Loader GX or you have to check your settings to make sure they're correct
Try from HBC first and if your USB Loaders channels are forwarders you could try the USB Loader channels or i
nstall USB Loader GX -UNEO_Forwarder Channel 5_1_AHBPROT.wad for USB Loader GX channel and Default-FIX94v14b-forwarder-DWFA.wad for wiiflow channel
GC games in "games" folder and WII games in "wbfs" folder.
Okay everything works. Thanks for your awesome help candylove!

Linkin Park - One Step Closer. Well the frustration is leaving me. I am making progress. My drive was larger than 500gb (1Tb), and I had formatted it using Easus (is that the correct spelling?). Easus kept telling me that it was primary and 32kb cluster size. I used Acronis and it finally told me that neither was true and made the few minor changes and... *Wait for it*... a game DID BOOT!!! BUT.. they won't run for very long. How can I explain this?

After adjusting the settings with Acronis, that was the first time I saw the DIOS MIOS Splash screen, but then the screen just went black. I tried the same image again (RE0) and it booted. Gave me the start new game without a background (just a black screen with start new game at the bottom) I started a new game and got just a black screen. So I tried it yet again. The third time the Wii just turned off before the DIOS MIOS splash screen. Tried it yet again, and it gave me the full intro, full title screen, and I even started the game... Watched the intro movie and all, Got control of Rebecca in the train, then it froze basically when the game had to switch camera angles. I tried Resident Evil 1 and it flashes and spins the can't find save screen. I fumbled my way through that screen thinking the game may stop flickering once I got past the memory card screen, but it just goes black. Then I said maybe it's just the lack of ability to read from my hdd (which was never a problem with the Wii games) So I formatted and installed a game on a USB stick and it never booted even the Dios Mios Splash screen.

Last but not least I tried loading one of the Wii games from Configurable USB Loader. I can see all my images, and I tried to launch Super Mario Galaxy and chose the imageless folder, got a nice greeting from Mario. Choose to launch game and it gave me an error about updating to the latest Ios249 or something along those lines and never launched the game.

CandlyLove you're the best for your responses and help. Thanks in advanced.

EDIT: It really just seems as if at any point the hdd goes idle for more than 10 seconds that it will no longer talk to my Wii, and the game either won't continue to load or freeze when it tries to load. If it is active then things run seemingly fine.

New USB loaders needs updated cIOS, which then loads DM, this is why you should always try dios-mios-booter r30 first because it does not need cios.
      d2x-cios-installation-guide.html
You may have to update cIOS249[56] to d2x-v8final) for wiiflow,Configurable USB Loader and USB Loader GX
To install cIOS as .wad files all you need is a tool like Wad Manager v1.7.
      - First, download the cIOS wads package from - HERE
      - Extract to your SD
      - Install the wads with IOS236

Is it possible to use dios mios using a hdd with one wbfs partition and one fat32 partition?
I tried it and i can see my wii games and gc games in usb loader gx but when i load a gc game its stuck on a black screen.
Is it because of the wbfs and fat partition or because my hdd isnt compatible? (iomega 1tb)

In GX is your "games" folder in USB2 ? it has to be USB1, 1st partition.
It is possible but the FAT32 with 32KB cluster size has to be 1st partition (USB1) primary and active for DIOS MIOS to work. IF it is 2nd partition (USB2) Use your hard drive program, change both partitions to logical and then change the FAT32 to primary 1st plus active and then the WBFS to primary, so the FAT32 will be 1st partition (USB1) and the WBFS will be 2nd partition (USB2).
Most applications that format drives automatically set it to FAT32 with 64kb cluster size, even if you tell it to do 32kb cluster size. A simple double check will make sure it's right.
Use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced to check: right click your disk/change cluster size/current cluster size:
I use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced to check my FAT32 hard drive cluster size and it was 64KB so I change it to 32KB and I did not lose any data and it is very quick

Yes, the folder is in usb2. I will try to change it using your method and report back!
      Thx for the quick reply

      Edit:
      Ok, that didn't work.
I could not convert the wbfs partition to logical for some reason, I tried it with the fat partition but it stayed as usb2.
I converted my wbfs partition to fat32 (with wbfs2fat) and going to try to merge the 2 partiton in one.
I'll let you know if it works

      jaybrown,
After you do that, check the cluster size.

Thx man, its working great now. Only one problem, in usb loader the hdd seems to respond much slower now. When i press back for example it takes some time to go back while i did not have that with the two partitions. Is it because the partition is bigger its responding slower? Also in hard disk settings my partition is shown as fat12 instead of fat32. In windows the partition is showing fat32 though...
In game its not slower at all so its no big problem if it stays this way.

In a FAT HDD the smaller the cluster size, the HDD gets slower, so you should make sure it's not less than 32KB cluster size, when my HDD was 64KB cluster size it was faster but DIOS MIOS only works if it's 32KB or less.

alright that makes sense. Would it be possible to make one fat32 partition with 32kb cluster size for GC games, and one with 64KB cluster size for the rest? as long as the 32kb one is usb1 there shouldnt be a problem right?

For the WII one partition is better than two and 32KB is recommended, 64KB cluster size could waste space on the HDD.

So I tried it with one big (1TB) Fat32 partition. GC games working fine, homebrew working fine but not all the wii games were working. I'm now trying with one fat32 partition for GC games and homebrew and one WBFS partition for wii games.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

Do I need the source folder to run the loader or is that just for developers?

If it's necessary, does it have to be on the same device (SD or HDD) as the games I'm going to run? What should the file structure be (like, should I extract gc_devo_src.zip to the root of the SD/HDD)?

sometimes when you change partition format, you have to remove the .GFG file in usbloader_gx app because it was set to use the WBFS partition or you have to check your settings to make sure they're correct, sometimes replacing the USB Loader apps with a new one gets rid of the issues you could also try wiiflow.
I have two Wii, 1st HDD (1.5TB) one partition FAT32 for everything.
2nd HDD (2TB), 1st partition FAT32 for GC games, HBC, emulators, 2nd partition NTFS for WII games and WiiMC .
HBC, emulators, WiiMC, all WII games, all GC games and all USB Loaders( newest versions of USB Loaders and forwarders) works perfect with both HDD.

Hey Guys, I just downloaded DM 2.3 and it came with a DMToolbox. I opened it up and it looked like it had similar functions to DiscEx. Is it a formatter and compressor of ISOs?
