finally got this to work with 2.0. no luck on 2.1 or2.2. either black screen or splash screen freeze. my only issue so far is on master quest the wii keeps turning completly off. a few times anytime i save after getting the slingshot so i figured id just do the whole dungeon without saving and it turnrd off when i opened the door to the boss. any have this problem/solution?

@Zusfrid: No, it won't ruin your softmod.

@Zack420911: Make sure you are using USB Loader GX 3.0 r1198 or higher, you need that to run DM2.2.

Hmm...maybe I should update the guide to say that the different versions of DM need different versions of the Loaders. But the truth was, I just put use the newest version of DM with the Newest version of the Loader (and I put the link there) or just use DM 2.0.

That might be a good idea lol. I can confirm though that USB Loader GX r1200 and DIOS MIOS 2.2 are a working combination.

Hm... none of the games I've renamed from .GCM to .ISO seem to be booting (black screen) - just a coincidence?

Out of interest, why do you guys use discEX? All GameCube rips I have tried from wiiflow/gx/cleanrip etc work perfect without any other alteration.(I'm aware people like to compress the game)

Not being a smart a*se, just wondering because people are getting problems.

DiscEX v 0.8b - Converts Wii/GC images to the required format, it will change .gcm to .iso, just put the .gcm on top of DiscEx. application to get the .iso

if you do not have the .iso and you have .gcm you need discEX to convert it to .iso

cheers - i've just been renaming them (changing the extension), I thought that was meant to be fine?

Crimson, that is fine. But disc Ex creates the other necessary files for you. You can use other software than disc Ex to do the job if you'd like.

.gcm and .iso are just tags of the same file, so you can freely change them. Just rename the .iso or .gcm to "game.iso". But disc Ex automatically does that for you and creates the .bin files.

According to HulkWogan DiskEx is unnecessary unless you want to compress (which I do prefer as I'm running low on HDD space). Someone else said earlier in this thread that the app loader and bin files (all contained in a "sys" folder) are not needed...this makes me curios to test that for myself.

I said that lol! I can run ISOs straight with no additional files no problem at all, just seems to have a problem with renamed GCM files - guess it's just a lack of compatibility coincidence

Lol, HulkWogan and you both say it so it must be true. Still would like to try it myself, though I'm fine with DiscEx...as I said my HDD is starting to get low on space lol

alright. i offically give up. is there a start to finish guide on this anywhere? what is the best loader to use? im using usb loader gx r1193 ios249, and i cant get any gamecube games to load, always either freezes the wii or black screens. im seeing i should set dml to dm, but i cant find it anywhere in the settings, and i never installed dml, just dm 2.0. i dont know if i just dont have all the correct files i need to make this work, if im still on outdated loaders, blah blah. also, i had to go and find the gc_devo pack because i didnt have that at all.

also, these arent downloaded iso's. these are straight rip from offical retail disc games.

so please, help lol. this is getting frustrating.

ps. my hard drive is formatted to fat 32, 32kb clusters. i have my wii games in "WBFS"(those load just fine, play just fine), and my GC games in "Games".

Update to USB Loader GX 3.0 r1200 (IOS249) and DIOS MIOS 2.2, in settings change DML version to 2.2+ (yes, it says DML but it is for DML and DM). If that doesn't help, try these things:

      A) Reformat the HDD just to be 100% sure you have the settings correct

      B) Try re-ripping the games using CleanRip 1.0.5 (I'm told you don't have to but be sure to run then through DiscEx). If they don't work compressed try them without compressing, still run them through DiscEx just tell it NO when asked if you want to compress.

      C) Provided you SD card is a standard 2GB try reformatting it to FAT32 with allocation size of 4096 bytes (this is how mine is set up and it works).

If all else fails your HDD might not be compatible, in that case try a different USB drive to test that theory. Try a small flashstick (8gb SanDisc Cruzer or something similar)

is cleanrip a pc or wii program? if its a wii program, how do i get it onto my wii? i cant get my laptop to read gc games if its a pc program.

my sd card is only a 1gb. does it need to be 2gb? its what ive been using for about the past year with my outdated version of usb loader gx.

Just to reiterate the fact, discEX is totally unecesseray for me personally and may even create compatibility issues for some, games I have and all of which run perfect may I add are on DM 2.2 as an .iso ripped straight from a compatible loader and untouched thereafter.

      games include and are PAL:
Super mario sunshine, zelda - wind waker, resident evil 0, 1 & 2, starfox, rogue squadron, rogue leader and luigi's mansion.

      Hopefully this helps somebody.

It's a Wii program, you can get it from Wiibrew on your computer. It may also be in the HomeBrew Browser on the Wii but I'm not completely sure, my advice, just go to WiiBrew and DL it there. Extract it to your SD card. Just make sure you put it in the correct place so it shows up in HBC

I'm not sure if your 1gb card is an issue or not. If its been working for you I'd assume it's fine. It's just recommended that you use a 2gb SD card from what I've read.

Cleanrip is for the wii, but not available on homebrew browser so you need to find it on the Internet and place it on your sd card, you can use it to rip games to sd or USB hdd, if you can only rip to sd then 1gb even 2gb may not be enough.

2 is enough depending on how many apps and other things are on the SD card. As far as I know, no GC games are bigger than 1.36gb, so it's possible but much easier to just rip them to a larger USB device.

Anyone else experiencing this: I'm using USB Loader GX 3.0 r1200 with DM 2.2 and, though it's not seeming to cause any issues, every time I click start on a game I get a message telling me Dios Mios (Lite) no longer uses the no disc function and that I must put a disc in the drive. Now I don't actually have to, I can load the games without a disc but why is it telling me this every time? I have "DML No Disc" turned on, there is a second option called DML No Disc+ but I haven't tried it as I don't know what it does. Anyone have any ideas?
