Aren't the cIOSs all that need updating after soft modding? I thought that's what I was told lol.

screw it - i'm just gonna do all 3 .zips - if it's not working atm it can't get much worse by updating everything

Right, updated all absolutely everything: sysCheck #qHL6xCa4 - still not getting past the black screen - I'm trying the games that boot fine using Devolution so it's definitely a problem with Dios Mios...

Oh also I had to reinstall Dios Mios (2.2) after the full update

      Please Use The EDIT Function.

You installed using IOS236 correct? If that didn't help try using a different DM or USB Loader GX version (I suggest USB GX r1193 and DM 2.0 or 2.1 as they've worked relatively well for me).

Nope, IOS 249 - I'll uninstall it and re-install it again with IOS 236

DO NOT uninstall ANYTHING unless instructed to do so. You only need to reinstall, doing so will overwrite your previous install(s). Uninstalling any IOS may result in bricking your Wii.

in the past I use wbfs2fat, it change two hard drive to fat32 with 64KB cluster I use Acronis to change the cluster to 32KB cluster. I also had a NTFS drive which work prefect with wii backup but not GC backup so I made a fat32 partition, but it was partition 2, so to change it to partition 1, I had to change both partition to logical and then change the fat32 to primary 1st plus active and then the NTFS to primary so the fat was 1st partition and the NTFS was 2nd partition now all GC backup and wii backup works on all 3 hard drive and I did not have to format any drive. I also like DIOSMIOS 2.1 wad because it works with most usb loaders

This worked!!!!! Thank you candylove and everyone for their help

I originally made the GC partition primary as stated in the guide, but my Wii partition was already primary so my GC partition was labelled 'USB 2' by USB Loader GX, I didn't think this was a problem as I'd followed the guide exactly. I really think candylove's post should be added to the guide!

A couple of small problems left:

A - A lot of (original, non-scratched) GC games are failing mid-way when ripping using USB Loader GX, any ideas why?
B - is there a way to rip saves from my GC memory cards to my SD card/USB drive and use them with Dios Mios?

      A) Try using CleanRip 1.0.5, if that doesn't work DM may be the problem, try reinstalling mIOS v10 and see if that helps

      B) Yes, look up GCMM (you MUST have a 3rd party memory card for sav ripping), and on the DIOS MIOS google code page DL the program called "gci2nmm". Simply drag the GCI files GCMM creates into the gci2nmm application and it will do the rest. All you have to do afterwards is put the saves in the correct location on your SD or USB. I suggest using SD as some HDDs have a "sleep" function, if it activates at anytime before or during the save process it will probably corrupt the drive.

Crimsonnight your Ios's are outdated, This won't affect Usb Loading though.
Will do (*EDIT* my drive's already on the list, although I can confirm it also works with DM 2.2)... just updated them though lol Do you have a link to a newer pack?

I'll have to add my drive later tonight or possibly tomorrow. I don't remember all the details for it lol, it does work with DM though.

That's exactly what I just used lol, the 3 zips from chapter 2.

Here's my syscheck before updating: sysCheck #Dl6Kcpmz
And after installing the 30 wads: sysCheck #qHL6xCa4

Cheers, cleanrip seems to be doing the job! Is there a way to change the default rip directory it uses though (so that it matches the 'games/gamename[title]' formula usb loader gx seems to favour)? Or even a way to make cleanrip the default game-ripper from within usb loader gx?

Nope, but when you convert the ISOs with DiscEx just put the folder it generates where your other GC ISOs are and it should work. So long as it looks like this

      USB1:\Games\Gamename[Title]

And don't for get inside the Gamename[Title] folder you should have game.iso and a "sys" folder with 3 files (don't remember their names at the moment).

You are still running pretty old cIOS around 245-251 (you have d2x-v7final) I am running d2x-v8final and some v9 beta that are avail (see below) - I also am running hermesrodries-v6 from 202-224 (version 5.1r when downloaded from Modmii)

      Spoiler

On top of this - Modmii is absolutely the EASIEST way to find new c /IOS and convert to wad for install...

Does USB Loader GX create the sys folder (with the apploaders)? I think it just strictly rips the iso (however you have it set to rip) which I think load fine via that loader.. I could be wrong though but not near NGC to test..

You may be right, I've never had any luck ripping a GC game via USB GX so I can't say. I know if you do it with CleanRip as I have for the 2 or 3 games I actually got to read before my laser died (or whatever caused my GC games to stop reading) you have to convert them with DiscEx and it will create a folder titled as the the game ID and inside it will have game.iso and the "sys" folder with 3 files inside. I assume they are necessary, I mean why else would they be generated and would we be told to copy tue GameID folder and all it's contents to the HDD? Lol...when I get my Wii back this weekend I'll have to test this and see (provided my disc read problem is fixed)

Realize this post is a couple weeks old now, but I needed it as a point of reference for my question: i'm wondering since a button combo exists for rebooting the wii if a mod could be added that "remembers" the loader being used for GC games (CFG/Wiiflow/GX), and instead of rebooting to the system menu, would reboot to the loader?

By the way, DM 2.0 has been fantastic, running all of my GC backups flawlessly on my 4.1u system menu and wiiflow r615. I would be lauding v2.2 but for some reason it was causing me trouble, not getting past the DM splash screen in most cases and not even getting that far in others. Just being able to load GC games from a USB instead of SD has me giddy enough, so kudos to the creator for making this possible (where some are still saying it will never happen).
