Well I've tried 3 different types of external drive now and haven't had luck with any of them

Sorry then, that's pretty much all the help I can offer. If you have IOS36 and 236 and they're both installed correctly then I don't know what the problem could be that prevents DIOS MIOS from loading. Other than potentially not being compatible with you HDD.

I did not use IOS 236 to install DIOS MIOS. I used IOS 249 which is d2x base 56.

I wouldn't be able to help, your system setup is different from mine. Different System Menu and region. It appears to be good though so I'm not sure what is causing the problems...

I do notice though that your d2xs are out dated, just some advice but you might want to consider updating to d2x v8 Final. I also see your BC is v5 instead of v6...not sure of that matters or not but just another thing to consider.

SNES, were you experiments with BC conclusive?

I initially installed it using 249, then d2x, then 236 - made no difference

Sadly no...by process of elimination I've determined it's my laser/drive

The reason I believe this is that after 6 failed attempts I finally successfully ripped Megaman Anniversary (I really just kept retrying till it worked). If it were the BC, MIOS, System Menu etc etc I doubt it would have worked no matter how many tries I did.

Okay, I'll test out the BC then. It shouldn't brick my wii...but I got Boot 2 so if anything goes wrong I'll fix it.

I used iOS 236 and i also have the modded version of usb loader gx.

Try using USB Loader GX r1180, that's the one I'm using and it works. Other than that all I can suggest is try reinstalling DIOS MIOS with a different IOS. Cwjakesteel says he used iOS249 so maybe try that one.

Not just IOS249, but you know, the updated one. Because IOS249 can be any base. It's the base that matters. If you made IOS249 a patched IOS36, it would be no different from IOS236.

I doubt it will do any kind of damage anyway lol. But when I installed the BC and MIOS from the link you posted it began showing my GC discs in Disc Channel again, however, after getting to the main menu of the game (in my tests, DBZ Budokai 1, 2 and Megaman Anniversary Collection) it would put up a red message informing me of a disc read error. Thus my conclusion is the laser/drive is dirty or dying.

They have done that, the problem is that the loader keeps ripping them to the sd card and not the usb drive...

I tried ripping my Zelda special edition this morning and yes, it wants to put it on the SD card. My partition is set to auto right now. I'll try switching it to usb and see how that goes.

Has anyone found a fix for this? I can still only install to the sd card with CFG. It would be nice to do everything from within CFG and not have to move the game from the sd to the hard drive every time.

How do you debug DIOS MIOS?

I had been using fat32format dos util and telling it to format in 32k chunks, but it was still formatting my drive to 64 (noticed that in text output when running.) It wasn't until I found a windows app call guiformat.exe (free fat32 format app) did it work correctly. Are you guys all sure your drives are formatted correctly??


I also want to say make sure D2X v8, BC v6, MIOS v10 (installed and patched through Wiigator) and DIOS MIOS v2 are installed in that order. Re-install them all in that order and with the right formatted drive, I have had no issues. I will also point out to try Devolution Wii if you can't get this running as it has ran most the games DIOS MIOS will not boot for me and ONLY seems to need IOS58 to run correctly.

Very interesting info. I'll have to give that a try. I'll edit this with my results as soon as I get the chance to try that out. I am fairly certain that my HDD is set to cluster size of 32 though but can't hurt to check.

Sadly, no luck. I'm now trying a home made lens cleaner build with a gaz pad lol...still no good

My only choices are get a new Wii, convince a friend to let me hack theirs, get an external disc drive that can read GC games or replace my wii drive. I don't want to send it to Nintendo cause its hacked and who knows what they'll have to say about that...

ok ive followed the instructions on what to install,,,,,Cfg keeps saying error of not enough space to run, USB GX never shows my game despite me specifying the location,,,,,and dios mios loader i have the game visible but when i click to run a black screen appears stating " encryption DSI occured "...plz someone help me on this issue

For USB Loader, have you clicked the Box that says "GC Games"? They won't show unless you do that, even you if you specify the correct path.

So I reinstalled DIOS_MIOS v2 with iOS 249 and tried using USB Loader GX r1180 however I am unsure if reinstalling with iOS 249 worked because USB Loader GX still will only give me the options to copy/show sd/cancel. It notices the game on my usb it just wont give me an option to play it except from my sd. I have tried r1180 and r1193 mod02, but no dice. any other things for me to try out?
