ok i have a wierd problem...seams i have no trouble running games (have everything set up and works properly)...now when i'm playing about 10 to 30 minutes into the game my wii will just error and shut off...no error msg just instant red light...does it on every gc game i try and play...all of them are backed up from original disk i own (in other words i know there good rips i did them) and it didn't do this before when i ran them from sd...i'm wondering if there is a auto shutdown on my hard drive that wasn't there before i reformated to fat32 32bit clusters that wasn't there before causing it just don't make any sense

Try using a different USB drive and see the issue still occurs. Some hard drives have a sleep function that kicks in after a certain amount of time. I know this happened with my old 1T I used for my Wii (I now have a 640gb self powered pocket drive). My suggestion is try a small USB flash stick.

I was thrilled with joy when I heard about the release of dios mios v.2, and after 2 or so hours I finally succeeded and everything worked fine (i ignored the 32 cluster size requirement the first few times i tried it, but when i reformatted everything i tried run perfect). I just wanted to thank the author of DM and also the author of DML because what they have done is a major breakthrough in the wii hombrew scene, or may be even in the whole console hacking community. They have created something that was previously thought difficult or technically unachievable. No other disc-based console have been granted this functionality before the wii where it can be run digital backups of another disc-based predecessor from an external non-disc based storage system except perhaps, the xbox 360. Great work and congratulations to the programmers.

What program are you using to launch? either you didn't install dios mios 2.0 or you need to upgrade your usb loader.

Sounds to me like the wrong version of USB Loader. My GX did that too till I switched to the one provided in cwjakesteels guide.

I have never heard of that issue, nor do I know how to solve it. Does it auto-shutdown at the same time interval each time you play the game? Which USB Loader are you using? Try a different one.

Can anyone help me with this unanswered question...

Is it possible to play GC games off of both USB HD and SD Card just using Dios Mios??

Yes I am well aware of DML but I'd rather not have to keep uninstalling one and reinstalling another.

I have a 32gb sd card and want to make use of it then hope to play the remaining games off the same HD as my wii games..

Thanks if you can help me!

Currently, you cannot play from the SD card and the USB without changing from DIOS MIOS to DML and back again.

Maybe it will come in the future, with an update of DIOS MIOS.

I was having the same error, turns out (in my case) its cause I used the USB Loader GX from the official site and not the build you linked in you're guide :P

Also I anxiously await more updates for this amazing program. Best thing to happen to Wii Homebrew since USB Loader GX. What I really want is to be able to use the same HDD for my Wii and GC games.

      SNES....you can....

That is exactly what I do...or wait...you mean because DIOS MIOS isn't working for you and therefore you play your GC games from SD, you mean?

Edit: I misunderstood your post lol, what I mean by I hope to use my Wii and GC games off one drive is that my HDD is not compatible with DM, I have to use my 8gb SanDisk USB Cruzer). Sadly I still can't get my Wii to recognize any of my retail discs to rip (aside from Wind Waker). Tried it with USB Loader GX and clean rip and of my 18 games only that one made it to 100% without error

help, i'm just getting a black screen when trying to boot games!

i have a western digital 2tb drive which i've been using to run wii backups on usb loaser gx no problem

i formatted 500gbs off using easeus as suggested (fat32-32kbs), i've made it primary and active. i have followed the guide completely, changing my all my usb loader gx settings. instead of following the first stage of the guide, i'm ripping my games straight from usb loader gx. the other thing i haven't done is put them in a 'game' folder, i'm guessing that's fine as you specify the path in usb loader gx anyway. the games appear fine, splash screen and all, but when pressing start i get a few green lines on my screen for a few seconds, then it flashes green as if booting, then blackness... does anyone have any suggestions on how i can fix this? (i've tried numerous games, they all have the same problem)

Try using a flash stick (such as a 8gb SanDisk Cruzer). Some HDDs are not compatible. I know my 640gb SeaGate FreeAgent GoFlex pocket drive doesn't work with DM.

The first thing I would suggest is making that games folder. A simple task that may be the difference. You're probably right in saying it doesn't matter, but it is worth a shot. Also, I thought I read something about making that partition first. I have everything on the same partition, so that's not an issue here, but EASEUS can probably make that happen. Also, make sure you have a disc in the drive. Some people have reported issues with having one in for some games, but again, worth a shot.

ok i'm using cfg loader r35 beta 2 (it's the only one i can find that doesn't ask me to install game to sd...i tried the usbloader gx file u linked to but it asked me to install to sd...i'm sure it's the r35 beta i have installed causing the problem as my hd has never turned off before for no reason so it has to just be the wii crashing...and it does it at different intervials..sometimes 5 minutes sometimes 20 always different games...i'm going to try the latest cfg loader again (r36 i think) and see if i can get it to work

edit...seams cfg70r36 has done the trick for me...must of been that beta mod i was using ...btw that was cfg70r39 beta...i don't know how i got that but i also have cfg70r40 but that doesn't work with dml...not sure how i got that eather since cfg70r36 is as far as it goes on the google source d/l page lol

I tried that, still no luck - I've also tried the Dios Mios booter and I get the same problem there's no reason a standard WD drive shouldn't work it there? Especially when it works fine for Wii backups...

*EDIT* tried a flash drive and still the same outcome

The green lines are normal. I get them when booting discs through disc loaders. If it didn't work for you, why don't you try putting them in a 'games' folder and see if that was the problem? If you intentionally don't follow a step of a guide and get errors, then it's clear what you need to do first before asking for help.

I don't know if having them out of the 'games' folder will actually be detrimental to play, but you'll be the perfect example if it works when you put it in that folder.
