Well the only thing I can tell you is to make sure you have all the right settings. Make sure all the paths are right. If all else fails, then it's out of my range. I don't know about disc loading, so I never used WiiGator or anything to install custom MIOS's. Do you have a link for the official MIOS V10? And can that be installed with wad manager?

I don't have a link to it but I did save the file (for emergency should I need it lol). Is there some way I can attach it in a post here or do I have to upload it externally?
Also yes, the MIOS v10 can be installed with Wad Manager.

Thanks. I'll add that to the guide.

Really? Even the GC games work once you switched your USB? Well that's great to hear.

Finally got USB Loader GX to successfully rip Zelda Wind Waker and this is what I get.....any ideas?

Backs up to the banner. I just tried a different rev for USB GX and that got a little further but now it's stuck on the GameCube DIOS MIOS screen lol. At least it's minor success, it means I'm heading in the right direction so to speak. It's just confusing and annoying as hell, I can't think of any reason for it to reject some games and accept others seemingly at random.

It funny, a year or 2 ago everyone in the Wii Homebrew community was saying a USB Loader for GC games would never work and yet here we are now lol. Makes my life easier since I no longer have to worry about scratching my discs (namely Zelda Wind Waker)
Pleased to see they have fixed the bug where retail discs could not be played but can anyone tell me if they think it will ever be possible for these mods to happen

-SD Card aswell as USB support for Gamecube games without having to uninstall and reinstall Dios Mios each time

-to play GC backups off of either an NTFS drive OR a secondary partition

I have been playing my GC backups off SD card and went to the trouble of spending out on a 32gb SD card, i'd like to keep making use of it aswell as perhaps playing the rest i couldn't squeeze on it from a USB HD but when i first soft modded my Wii i partitioned my 1TB HD with the primary as NTFS and the secondary as FAT32 so now my USB loaders won't play the games as FAT32 is not the primary partition (i can see the games in the folder USB2:\games however!

I am very impressed with the recent advancements made i just want to know if these will ever be possible otherwise i think i'm better off sticking with my SD card for now.

Why would anyone want NTFS? FAT32 is like the best format ever! (minus the maximum 4GB file size) You can use EASEUS Partition Manager to contract or expand your partitions, and format them anyway you like (and it's quick too). That way if you're really in love with NTFS you can alsways only expand the FAT32 partition when you need to.
The only thing it can't do (or at least I don't know) is to change the order of the partitions.

Thanks for your reply, I formatted to NTFS so I can store Wii games over 4gb like you mentioned. I don't see how FAT32 is the best format I should imagine the reason why GameCube games support it over NTFS is because of how long ago the GC was released. I've actually been told the opposite that FAT32 is now obsolete compared with NTFS...

In regards to changing the partition order, THIS can be done as I have in the past but I would need to know whether my loaders would then play my Wii games automatically off the 'now' secondary NTFS partition???

The developers once said USB GameCube support was impossible so I'm gonna take a bet that this will one day be possible

      Thanks

From what I understand, when the wii goes into gamecube mode it's given 96 kb to play with. All the dios mios code has to fit in that size....coding to make ntfs work would put the program over those parameters, which are about maxed out as it is. Hope this helps.

I don't think they said it was impossible. I think they said that no one had any interest in doing so. That is, the coders. Because a whole lot of people wanted Gamecube Games to run from the USB, but people just ruled it out. Why did they do that? I know it was because of the famous saying "The wii acts like a gamecube" and therefore shuts down USB usage, well if it was so impossible then the coders of DIOS MIOS must be super heroes.

So I bet that you're right. NTFS support might come in the future, but since FAT32 is much easier for them to use, and it's also quite easy to reformat your drive, it might not come in a while. It's much different than running digital copies vs. running disc backups.

anyone know if they will ever change the part where the game has to on the first partition ? ( Will lose a lot of files if i have to reformat things ( hdd is almost full and no other space to store it lol ))

That sucks cool. I was only able to reformat my 250 GB HDD because I keep a backup of every wii game I use.

I have an HDD for playing Wii games, and one for backing up those Wii games. Since I play the games in wbfs format, I keep an HDD of 500 GB storing the .isos.

OK! I tried a new HDD that i made a folder "games" in it, plugged it in and opened USB Loader GX. It did not freeze and when I went into the settings to change the main GameCube path the USB was there!!
I got very excited and plugged in my mario kart to back up, when it was finished I decided to try it out. But unfortunately it told me i had to have the USB HDD formatted to FAT32 (at the time it was NTFS, because i forgot to change it before i tried).

I thought no problem I will just re-format it to FAT32 then re-back up the game. But unfortunately USB Loader GX now says it can not find the USB device and I can not change the Main GameCube path to the USB. Anyone know why this would be?

I know now that the USB is compatible (because it did work before!), but it seems once I make it FAT32 it does not.

I did have to use some program to format the drive because windows would now allow me to format the 150GB HDD to FAT32, not sure if the program did not format it right but I have redone it many time and still no luck.

If anyone has any tips i can try please throw them my way, would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT-EDIT-EDIT: OK, for some reason USB Loader GX decided to read my HDD that was now formatted to FAT32. And again i installed Mario Kart onto it and tried to launch, but now I just get a black screen. Not sure what I can do from here :/

I wish I could get this working...or re-enable retail GC games. Shortly after I installed the MIOS v10 I mentioned earlier the error message returned...I really don't know what I did/am doing wrong here but I think I may as well give up. My Wii just cooperate with DIOS MIOS...

I originally had this issue, then realized I neglected to format my hard drive with 32kb clusters. After backing everything up, reformatting with EASEUS, and restoring, everything works like a dream.
Just a thought, but it sounds like you are formatting with another program, and I believe the default cluster size is 64. Good... luck?

Ok, I just used EASEUS to format my 150GB HDD to FAT32 with 32Kb cluster size and STILL after I go into USB Loader GX and back up my game and try to launch it gets stuck at a black screen. Now I have no idea what is wrong.

Anyone again with some tips/info would help a lot. Thanks.

This is probably all formalities, but...
      Formatted as primary and active?
Most up to date modded version of USB loader GX from their code.Google.com page?
Most up to date version of Dios Mios?
      D2x v8 wads installed through IOS 236?
Game is a good dump and compatible with DM?
NMM and other options turned off to start with?

I am by no means an expert on this stuff, but I went through all these steps and it is now working for me, so I wish you the best.
