re-install d2x v7 and update GX to r1209 replace the boot.dol in apps/ usbloader_ gx with the updated one ( r1209_IOS249) and update GX channel with USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_5_1_AHBPROT.wad and when you update GX remove the CFG file in the GX app also and update CFGLoader: cfg70MODr51 (rename it boot.dol) or update CFGLoader from Wii wifi

      d2x v8 and d2x v9 does not work for you, only d2x v6 and d2x v7 works for you

How do you know if usb loader gx is updated? Because it shows the older version when launching even after putting the boot.dol in the folder?

I have already updated the forwarder i did that several things ago. Am going to redo D2X v7 and see what happens there. I notice there is a v10 beta now too.

Forwarder is like a shortcut in windows (based on your nick I'm guessing you drank the apple koolaid) - it just points to a particular boot.dol in a particular folder in apps. The dol must be named boot.dol in the folder.

There are two v10, one for the wii and one for the wii u, if v8 and v9 did not work I do not think v10 is going to work, only v6 and v7 works for your wii

(Darn right i use Apple. I hate windows its clunky and makes no sense and windows 8 really is weird.
I know what the forwarder is i have worked on windows and macs have shortcuts too or Aliases. I have used windows when i am at a place that does not have macs. I also used a windows computer for a few years when i was staying with someone and never did like it. So i have been on both sides of the fence. And in all honest cant understand why the people who choose to use win doze. I know many dont choose to they just want a computer walk into walmart and buy the cheapest one they see. )

Yes i named it boot.dol in the folder just like she said but it still says when i load it up the start screen doesnt change the version. Thats why i ask how do you know your running a beta since even after replacing the boot.dol and dumping the cfg file.

I wonder if its because i have an older wii? Not sure that it matters but i have one of the early ones.

The meta is not updated only the boot.dol this is why it show the older version in the HBC, but it is GX r1209
GX r1209 is already name boot.dol, only CFG USB Loader you have to rename it boot.dol make sure you put the right boot.dol in the USB Loaders apps

re install DM2.8 with wad manager 1.7 with IOS236
Also try updating wiiflow and CFG USB Loader with the wii wifi
I'm still using DM 2.6 with no issues so I did not update to DM 2.8 yet

      ok will do that now

cant update either. USB GX says its already up to date and wiiflow just says no version info found and you try to download anyway and it says DL failed.
Reinstalled DM 2.8 using WAD manager and everything still freezes and the remotes blink and wont respond

Maybe wiiflow and cfg usb loader apps are corrupted, you may have to replace them again, try DM 2.6

Are your wii games working? Maybe your USB HDD is not compatible with DM
Do you have disc drive issues? If you have disc drive issues try DM 2.2 and put NODISC to on in the usb loader settings
Also try GX r1198, Added DML 2.2+ new NoDisc support. r1198:R1198_IOS222-249-250.7z

its on the list as working. nothing works with wiiflow and CFG. wii games seem to play in USB GX. I didnt check all of them or really play it but it does load up and such

What about updating the wii and doing a clean install and then re softmod and starting all over? I thought about that but if i updated through the wii didnt know if it would brick it or if i could remod. I assume 4.3 is the latest?
Not sure that would solve anything but i just dont know what else to do. Hoping you have an idea because i really dont want to go through the whole process again

Never Ever Ever Update Your Wii From Nintendo
wiiflow have two folders SD/ wiiflow and SD/apps/wiiflow and sometimes on the USB HDD also try removing all and put a new wiiflow app (
WiiFlow: v4.1) in the apps folder on the SD and see if that gets rid of the issues.
All usb loaders have issues if there is duplicate folders on the sd and usb so you should remove all the old usb loader folders when you put new usb loader apps

So what do i do at this point? I see so many others have it working and im really frustrated here at why i cant get it to work. formated fat 32 32k cluster. HDD is on the list, games are on the list as compatible.
I had it loading the GC games to the point it would want to put them on an SD which doesnt work but now it doesnt do anything the minute you try to load it the whole system freezes.
I dont have a big enough SD card to use or id try that way. I havea 16Gb SDHC card but i thought i read SD HC dont work. And i have gone to so much trouble on the HDD youd think i could make it work

Wait for the WiiHacks Staff to help. And you may have to post another syscheck also.
It is good to know your wii games are working with GX. Is your games folder in USB1 in GX?
For USB Loader GX, go into settings>custom paths, and change the path to USB1:/games
GC games only works if it's in (USB1) 1st partition of the HDD it will not work if it's in (USB2)
    1. Ilovemymac's Avatar
      Ilovemymac -
yes for GC games. Then the WBFS partition is wii games USB 2. USb1 is formated correctly and is the first and primary as it stated in the guide.

i apologize i misread. I cant seem to find out if my drive will work with GC games. Its a Maxtor One Touch III 320GB its listed as ok for wii games and i thought i was looking at GC games.
I have a couple USB sticks i am going to try and see what happens

Ok last night i copied all the games back over and now so far i tried 1 game this morning and boom it works. I dont know what happened but it seems to work

The Text file test to check and see your cluster size is not accurate.
This is more accurate. I went bonkers formatting it over and over with 7 different tools with a 32kb cluster size and it kept reporting the file was 64kb size on disk. it's more accurate if you do the command line test in windows using chkdsk method.

Run CMD as Administrator in Windows to get a command prompt.

Change the drive letter to the partition you are trying to check.

      Type chkdsk and hit enter

Once you finish check the "bytes in each allocation unit" line near the very bottom.
      That is accurate.

I'm going to test this out now that I have finished the tutorial.

That method was already mentioned in the guide by llaffer, let me know the results and I also thanked llaffer for it and I was always aware of that method and it should be added to the guide the more ways you could check the cluster size the better.

Look for the line near the bottom of the output stating "bytes in each allocation unit". It should read 32,768.
