I can confirm my "Disc Channel" no longer reads GC discs...even on the latest version. This program just totally broke my Wiis ability to read retail GC games.

I actually haven't tried to see if my retail reading works. But what was I saying before I left?

BMANN2, don't do the no disc thing for Super Smash. I only did it for Mario Kart because that can work without discs. Mario Kart was giving me the black screen, not SSBM. But the difference is that Mario Kart didn't give me a hang, it just caused my Wii to Shut Off.

Also, about the creat_wad.bat not working. Create a shortcut file for discEX.exe. Go to the properties of the shortcut and look for the Target Box. You will see the directory in quotations.

After the quotations put a space then a dash (-) then c. So it will be like this "C:\Users\You\Desktop\Gamecube\DiscEx\DiscEx.e xe" -c. Drag the iso to the shortcut and it will compress and format it for you.

@BMANN2 Has ANY game worked for you? Have you tried other games than SSBM? If you have Double Dash try it with the settings I told you. But don't change the settings from the root of USB Loader GX. Change it in the game settings. Which means click on the game, then click on settings.

I'm not at my Wii right now but I have a tip I found that may help us, if you'd like to give it a shot. From what I've read (again, I can't confirm this at the moment) if you hold reset to load up Priiloader and set the region free settings to off that supposedly fixes it. I don't know why but here's the link where I learned this

So Priiloader is the problem then?

It's possible, I haven't tried disabling the region free settings yet (I'm not able to use my Wii at the moment). But it seems possible, I know I do have all the region free options set to enable and I was getting some disc errors before this program (the program made it worse but it was still a problem before as well). I'll be trying this out ASAP (I don't need region free on anyway, I've never imported a Wii or GC game before). I'll post back when I know for sure.

Edit: I also know that one of the settings is "Region Free GameCube" so since that directly effects how the Wii reads GC games it would make sense for that to be interfering.

I'm going to uninstall priiloader and try it to see if this works.

I have two Wiis both with the latest priiloader and none of them work with DML greater than R59. I'm thinking Priiloader might be the culprit.

Sadly no luck. I turned off all region free settings and though I actually got Dragon Ball Z Budokai to load up it crashed before I could load a fight. Zelda Wind Waker would not load at all....back to square one.

I'm going to uninstall priiloader and see if that makes a difference. I have a feeling...

Okay, well tell us if it works. Priiloader is not an uncommon software installed to Wiis. What does it do exactly? I don't have it.

Essentially it protects you from a brick because you can hold the reset button and it will boot directly to that rather than the system menu. So should your system menu or other vital IOSs be deleted by mistake it's possible to recover the system. Bootmii is also recommended for brick protection.

Also my luck seems to be going off and on, just got Wind Waker to load and play for about 30min before and error occurred so it's possible my problem could be a dirty or faulty laser.

      Bad rip you're saying?

I have Bootmii, for brick protection, so I can bypass the system menu and go to wad manager to you know, install or uninstall anything bad.

If you are getting an error in game I guess a bad rip would be the problem...

I mean when playing off the retail disc via disc channel. I got it to run for about 30min-1hr before getting an error. I suppose if all else fails I do still have my GameCube for a backup, it's been under my bed for 5yrs lol but it still works when I want to drag it out and play any of my GC games. The Wii still works with Wii discs (and I have USB Loader GX should they begin to fail as well), I just wish I didn't need to pull out an old system when my Wii is supposed to be fully capable of playing GC games. Biggest reason I'm thinking part (or all) of the problem is the laser is that even before hacking I had issues with disc read errors. They've just become more frequent recently.

I gave my GC away to my little cousin because his dad hogs the family wii, lol. Ah, the gamecube, good memories. Too bad it sold the worst out of all the other systems. Why was that?

Mostly cause people saw as a kid oriented system. It's a shame cause, IMO, some of the best games of that generation were on GC...a few exclusively. I liked PS2 as well but GC was my top pick.

I liked the X-box better than the PS2, but even though the GC is my favourite, the Dream Cast was the best system IMO.

I forgot all about Dreamcast lmao. That was good too, probably more underrated than GC.

Yea, I believe it had the best graphics out of all the systems but it was too expensive to sustain and for people to buy. It also had a screen in it's controller!

Following up... I uninstalled priiloader and still the only DIOS MIOS that works is DMLr59. DM 2.0 goes to black screen. DML 1.5lite goes to the splash screen of GCLoader and hangs. DMLr59 plays games of the SD and retail game fine.

I have an HDMI adapter hooked up to my Wii. Could that be causing an issue?

      Follow-up. I updated to d2x v9 beta... no joy.

I'm going to pick up a used Wii from GameStop and hack it fresh to determine what the issue is.

Again, DMLr59 runs Metroid Prime off of the SD card fine. Any newer version of DML or DM 2.0 Update 5 trying to run off the same SD card hangs at a black screen.
