I recently re-modded my Wii, following the instructions in the "Softmod Any Wii" guide, and it went wonderfully, with everything installing and working as I hoped it to. I can play Wii games without a problem via USB. The reason I even re-modded, though, was because my little brother wants to be able to play again some of the Gamecube games we had ages ago but don't work anymore or have been lost. So I tried to install Dios Mios Lite, as per the instructions in its respective guide.

Here's where I started running into issues.

I followed the instructions and put Luigi's Mansion on the SD card, in its proper directory and everything. The guide I followed linked to DML 2.2, I believe (though as I understand it there is a 2.6), and my USB Launcher GX is 3.0, if that helps any. The channel icon for Luigi's Mansion appears fine, and I tried to click it and press start. The Dios Mios logo, as well as the GameCube logo, both appear, but then are followed by a rather disheartening error of some sort. I've obtained 3 such errors so far; the one currently splashed across my screen says "Fatal error apploader size is zero!". There is a retail disc in the tray at the moment, Twilight Princess. I tried without a disc in as well, I got a different error that I don't remember.

I haven't tried updating DML to 2.6, but I did download and install regular Dios Mios 2.6 and uninstalled DML 2.2. For the record, I don't remember which IOS it was that I used, if that matters.

After installing DM 2.6, I put Luigi's Mansion and Metroid Prime on my USB hard drive, plugged it into the lower slot, booted up USB Launcher GX. Luigi's Mansion and Metroid Prime are still channels, but when I click them it tells me that the games are on the USB and it asks me if I want to move them to the SD card or not. The other options are "Cancel" and "View SD Card", or perhaps it's "Delete SD Card", one of the two. There is no option to play from USB, which, as I understand, is the entire point of regular DM.

I'm no expert with this kind of stuff, I'll be honest. But it's frustrating to know that I can follow instructions to the letter and still wind up hopelessly wrong and not know where I went astray.

Any help would be appreciated! I've been up all night trying to do this for my brother and I'm going to get some sleep for now.

Update GX to R1205_IOS222-249-250.7z. The latest GX is in the bottom of this page USB Loader GX, replace the boot.dol in your SD /apps/ usbloader_gx with the updated one ( r1205_IOS249) and update your GX channel with USB Loader GX -UNEO_Forwarder Channel 5_1_AHBPROT.wad and remove the old cfg file in the GX app if you are still having issues.

If you are still having issues v
erify that your HDD is using 32KB cluster size or less, use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced : right click your disk/change cluster size/current cluster size: I use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced on three HDD to change it from 64KB to 32KB and I did not lose any data. (I ONLY RECOMMEND ACRONIS BECAUSE NO DATA LOSS)If you use any other HDD program you will have to backup everything before you change the cluster size.
The Main GameCube Path has to be USB1. The games folder has to be in USB1 for DIOS MIOS to work:
      USB1/games/GAMEID/game.iso
Also try different GC games and use GX or DMToolbox 0.3 or higher to install the game.

Hey guys. I upgraded to USB Loader GX r1207 and it works perfectly.

I also tried Wiiflow 4.0.1 and that worked perfectly (or was it 4.1?)

The default settings for USB Loader GX are already perfect for the game. Except the PAD HOOK is set to OFF. Also, the only problem I found was that DIOS MIOS did not run if you had a gamecube disc in it.

Also, I tried MGS Twin Snakes and disc switched worked flawlessly which I was really happy about.

In the guide, I'll only mention those two loaders. But I'm really happy the default settings work, but I'll list them in the guide anyways.

EDIT: Also I don't have experience with forwarders since I run everything from the Homebrew Channel. Forwarders need to MATCH with the loader, correct?

Yes, they do. There is also the option of creating ones own forwarder.

Edit: to clarify as long as the forwarder points to the proper location (such as SD/apps/usbloadergx) it will work. It gets is own unique channel ID so Shop Channel DLs can't overwrite it.

Also, I just updated the guide a while ago. Everything should be fixed and updated for the new stuff. I just need to put the exact settings for USB Loader GX, Wiiflow and CFG Loader.

Do you know where I can find the changelog for DM 2.6?

Someone posted it a few pages back. Not sure where they got it but I did see it, I think all it really added was disc swapping.

Okay, cause what I really wanted to find was that Pad Hook for Screen shotting, and to see if the "NO DISC" issue was resolved. so that there's absolutely no need to use the No disc+ setting or to put in a gamecube disc.

Edit: I found it on their google code page.

Also, did you get your Wii's disc reader working? Cause I remember from before that you had a problem ripping GC games because of your dirty disc reader.

Edit 2: Ah, Now I remember what I wanted to ask you. What was the alternative method to ripping GC games? I mean, other than USB Loader GX.

Yup, couple months ago I got it fixed. It was a piece of metal that was sagging against the arm that spins the discs so I had to replace the whole drive. Now my Wii is like brand new (but I got the Wii U too so maybe that was a waste lol). Anyway, it would have been cheaper to do it myself but I didn't want to go through the hassle so I paid a local game shop.

CleanRip it is my preferred method for a few reasons.

Maaan, I want a Wii U! And I would have gotten it too! It's just that.... ;_; my PS3 broke during the summer, and I already had 10 games for it... ;_; and...I wanted to replace it so I traded in the broken one (and got $120 for it which is pretty good) and got the new slim $300 PS3...... ;_; but I couldn't get the $120 for the old PS3 unless I traded it for a new one. I couldn't just sell it..... ;_; ....so sad...

Lol, no problem. When you do get your Wii U you might want to consider getting a used one. Rumor has it (according to IGN) people are buying used Wii U's and upon logging into the eShop they discover they have can download all the items the previous owner had purchased (sorry mods if this is consider piracy, I see it as more of a bonus incentive to buy used lol). It appears that rather than being linked by account, Wii U's eShop goes by the system itself so even if you wipe all your data and delete the accounts the next owner gets access to them. I foresee Nintendo releasing a patch to stop this at some point but who knows when lol.

P.S. Sorry to derail your thread, perhaps we should continue this via PM? Lol

P.P.S If the Wii U gets hacked you may find DM becoming obsolete in lue of Devolution, unless DM's author also decides to add alternative control methods as Devo's author has stated he will.

That's fine, but you're right, enough off topic.

Once the guide is fully updated, I expect to see less activity on this thread, (not that I want less activity), but because all the problems should be addressed there.

So I now own r1207 and after following the "DIOS MIOS v2.0" when I load the game "Pokemon XD" it shuts the wii off [red light] Now what.
      ????????????????????????

I also have 1207 but I can't get to work?????

Hmm, I have experienced instant shut offs. But the problem seemed that I had a disc in when it shouldn't be. When the disc was in I had the Wii shut off of freeze most of the time, but without the disc in it was consistently working.

ElementalStudio, Is this your first time using DIOS MIOS? If you changed or upgraded your USB Loader you should delete the loader's .cfg files, then try again.

Yes (first time for softmods too) but I have/had the opposite issue

      What happens is:
I go to HBC then GX when I click the pokemon xd it shuts off [That is without a disc in the wii]
With a disk a get the mios logo, a quick flash of green, then the game loads for 1s then black[This is with a wii game inserted and pokemon xd as RAW [DMTool]
With optimised and a wii game in the game loads the same way but instead of black it freezes

Maybe I don't have the config setting correct? or the the .iso is just weird?

With the normal settings and no disc in the wii it shuts off.....really confused

      Here is mine

I can't seem to get the GC iso's to work with Mios

I am somewhat sure I have everything up to date
      USBLoader GX v3.0 r1207
      Dios Mios 2.6
      HBC 1.1.0 IOS58 v24.32
      Wiiflow v4.1

ElementalStudio, Your system check looks fine.
Please try to "NOT" double post, it is frowned upon here at WiiHacks.com and is against the Rules.

      Thank You.

I know I keep repeating myself, but that issue is common with FAT32 USB HDD with 64KB cluster size. Also with GX you have to use same region GC games and Wiiflow you could use out of region GC games but you have to force video to your region for it to work. Try keeping the settings default or global for GC games and try different GC games to verify that DIOS MIOS is working.

      Spoiler

      cwjakesteel,

Thanks for adding my method to the guide this is what I said:
You can examine the properties of a file on the disk (preferably a very small one made with Notepad) and it's "size on disk" can tell you the cluster size. For instance, this 1 byte file consumes 4KB (4096 bytes) on disk because 4KB (4096 bytes) is the cluster size. If it consumes 32KB (32,768 bytes) on the disk the cluster size is 32KB. If it consumes 64KB (65536 bytes) the cluster size is 64KB

If you only have DM 2.0, you should update to 2.6.

The 1205 version of GX recognizes my DM as 2.6.1+.

He's already using 2.6.1+ it just isn't working for some reason.
